Released DX11 and VR Open Beta, Is Here!

Question to @Christopher Elliott : Has this FFB situation - sudden reversal of FFB - been acknowledge by the team?
Its fixable by choosing your wheel brand preset in the controls settings and then set the buttons/axis again, and save as whatever name you want for it. Worked for everyone so far with that weird FFB issue including me.

Christoper Elliot is looking for someone to upload the old (bad) controller.JSON that have the bad FFB deadzone/steering issue in here so they can look at it: https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/messed-up-ffb-resolved.56433/#post-901448

With regard to the stuttering, is there a thread somewhere that notes how to record the performance and then send a log file to someone for analysis? I thought I read it somewhere but can't remember where.

I have noticed that when it's doing this the CPU is at 100+ and the AI are rubber banding. (Again, not sure if it's relevant)

Technical & Support forum, there's a sticky at the top :)

Intel Core i7 3770k @4,6ghz, 2400mhz Ram, Gforce GTX 1070, resolution 5040x1050, multiview on
Portugal, Corvette C6 Gt2, 29 car, starting grid at the end, 55fps, GPU load 50%, CPU limit.
Portugal, Nissan GTR GT500, same procedure 55fps, but 95-99% GPU load.
Its really strange that some cars generates such high GPU loads compared to others

Here some results of other cars.

Nissan GTR GT1 60%
Camaro GT3 80%
Indycar 90%

I think the differences are to great, and lots of optimisation is necessary because there is nearly no headroom for night or wet weather racing with some cars

Yep there is a lot of difference between the cars FPS wise. Also night is impossible for me personally. Shadows on LOW and daytime with clouds is ok. Smooth and nice. Night time it drops under 60FPS when the lights come on.

I also tested turning shadows to "medium" since performance has gone up a good bit but it was too taxing. Not as bad as before, i think, but it drops FPS when just 1 AI car is near me (in my view).

S397 has managed to get the performance up more and more so maybe they will be able to do a little more regarding night (lights) and shadows.

Does F12 steam screenshots work for anyone? Maybe its triple screen issue? Anyone with triples that can use steam F12 screenshot? For me it hasnt worked since DX11 i think.

some of my favourite tweaks which may help reduce PC resource night time
-from my VR optimisations thread but applies to monitor users too :

locate -if your rfactor2 is not on "C" drive then swap the "C" at beginning with relevant drive lett:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\player.Json

open the player.Json file (use notepad), then search for as below

Rear view mirror render distance
search for "Rearview_Back_Clip " the number is the render distance in meters ( 0 is no limit )
(I have this set to 30mtrs)

Lowering details of cars in garage
search for "Garage Detail" , set it to 0.01

Reducing number of headlight in effect
search for " "Max Headlights":256, "
I have this set to 20 (change 256 to 20) plenty enough and saves fps

Using DX9 i could´t notice any differences changing max headlights, even to 0, because this command didn´t change anything and i saw the headlights of all cars.

Difference between PCIe 2.0 x16 and 3.0 x16 in games is negligible (on single card systems at least). I'm not looking for a lecture on hardware.

I don't find rF2 DX11 beta laughable and pathetic, I find performance drop (30-70 FPS just by changing one variable) laughable and pathetic, huge difference. And please don't put words in my mouth.

Forget difference between PCIe 2.0 x16 and 3.0 x16 in other games you are in rFactor 2 now o_O

TechAde has pointed the finger at the PCI-e bus as to the reason a performance disparity exists benchmarking rFactor 2 on identical GPUs.
GPU: EVGA GTX 980 SC OC #1 (1550MHz, Mem 1900MHz, TDP < 88%)

PCIe 2.0 @ x16
Time: 67875ms - Avg: 145.655 - Min: 113 - Max: 176
PCIe 3.0 @ x16
Time: 67627ms - Avg: 187.975 - Min: 153 - Max: 216

29% average increase, 22% max, and the most important ... 35% min increase on a single card.

I once had a PC running 4 way crossfire with each card having true 8 lanes@ 2.0
I did a lot of testing to find out that the pcie bandwith was the main bottleneck

unfortunately I dont have any more details but at least it confirms your story

Tripples here, screenies working fine in steam, you have steam overlay activated in rf2 ?
Its activated in all my games normally. How do you activate it per game? EDIT: Ok i saw it and its activated (automatically) but overlay is not working in the sim.

Another thing, after the patch CTRL+A is not working for me anymore. I see the mouse pointer but no triple screen app. Anyone else? Worked before the patch.

I also saw no input lag difference after this new patch. Maybe its for no vsync usage only.

I have been away for a few weeks and come back to rF2 today. I use triples and my settings are all over the place and can find no way to adjust them. I used CTRL = to get the app, but all I get no is a cursor arrow. Anyone know if there is a problem, the keyboard keys etc have changed??

Yeah its a bug i think. I have the exact same issue. Triple screen app does not show.

Steam overlay is when you are inside a game and press SHIFT+TAB at the same time and get up Steam's overlay "HUD". Doesnt work for me personally.
