Now that the latest photoshop versions have 3D painting, do you think we could ever use this facility to paint our skins? The problem is, it needs a 3D model, ISI will never want to give out their 3D models because they would be ripped mercilessly to elsewhere. Would modders give out just the body part of their cars to use the photoshop/substance painter 3d painting? Substance painter is another that might work for this... but the question remains how do you we paint on a 3D model without the fuss What do you think?
My painting methode: to preview in 3D. - open photoshop and save the template with wire frame as alt.dds - open rF2 in windowed mode at a small resolution - open the tuning/garage - and load the alt.dds I can make changes to de cars livery and when i want to preview the skin. - Save as alt.dds and overwrite the skin. - in rF2 click on reload. It works with the windows, wings, rims too. So you can preview the whole car.
If modders would allow, this would be EXTREMELY useful. Most templates are OK, but there are also many out there that have pieces all over the place, making anything more intricate very very difficult. I can understand not wanting to just give out 3D models though.
Just open rF2 in windowed mode Load the skin in rF2 Color a part or mark a part with a color in photoshop. Save as .dds and overwrite the .dds Click on reload the skin... And you'll see what part it is. It works with all cars and all templates.
I think some of you have missed the point of what 3d painting ACTUALLY is. 3D painting....painting ON the model, not a 3d preview
I do my painting the same way Gijs van Elderen does... Small rF window open to view it as I paint. I've never really thought about painting my cars in 3D... Odd, since I paint 3D models in life as a job. but I find something comforting about the 2D templates. I've tried to paint a few different models in 3D, but found it was more of an art and I am not an artist. I find it hard to control the line work and flow of paint. But the new programs are definitely making it more and more tempting.
