Dev Mode doesn't work anymore!

Hi guys Is anyone having issues with dev mode? I can't get it to work in the game. I use the "mod mode exe" in local folders in steam through manage.

I have the tracks I want to work on with the aiw's and copied the tracks in the "mod dev" folder/locations.

All the proper files (mas, scn. dds tdf gbd ect ) are in there right structures of that track. The file paths in the scn file of those tracks are correct for the game to load them but these tracks do not show in the track list in the game in practice mode when I load the "mod mode exe" launcher. The game still loads though but its still in normal game and not dev mode.

I know the the "ctrl +" command is to turn on the aiw editor once you are in your car.

Hi Woodee Thanks for your reply. I tried the shortcut and put it on my desktop of pc. I added the +trace=3 and "apply" but i still don't see the tracks that I put in the Mod dev folder. what would be wrong or is there something im missing here.

Hi redapg Thanks for reply. I was going by the "Joesville" track for reference to see how to setup the folders and files for a track to load up in mod mode or dev mode.

Here is what joesville looks like in the .scn file :

SearchPath=.
SearchPath=JOESVILLE
SearchPath=JOESVILLE\JOESVILLE_SPEEDWAY
SearchPath=JOESVILLE\ASSETS\ANIMS
SearchPath=JOESVILLE\ASSETS\GMT
SearchPath=JOESVILLE\ASSETS\MAPS
SearchPath=JOESVILLE\ASSETS\SPONSORMAPS

All the files are unpacked through the rf2 mas tool editor.

As you know I think this was already done by the game. My issue is I don't see Joesville in the track list when I load the game up in mod mode.

Hi woohoo Not sure what you mean by rf1 components. I'm not using rf1. Im just trying to get an understanding in rf2 with the already track that's in dev mode folder of rf2. I'm just need help on why joesville track is not showing in mod mode of the game.

I dont see any of the tracks in the mod mode of the game. I have Joesville, LochDrummond tracks in ModDev/locations they have folders called "Assets" Inside Assets there is folders (ANIMs,GMTs ,MAPs, Materials) materials folder has json files

I haven't unpacked these in the modDev folder ,they were already there when I installed the rfactor2 game from steam . I also have two games installed which I don't know why that is!.... I have a ssd drive that is like a storage drive because I have C: as my main drive with win10 on it. All my steam games are on the ssd . Maybe I should delete rfactor2 and start again. Does anyone know why there's 2 installed rf2 games on my pc or is this how the game is setup. PS. The modDev folder on C: drive with the game installed, has all the files to run mod mode and mas tool ,where the other game on ssd drive ,has no devmode files at all. It seems strange to me. What do you guys think?

Strange that you have two installs... I'd personally go with the nuclear option and uninstall/delete leftover folders then reinstall. My Moddev folder has Joesville and Loch Drummond.

The devmode folder is standalone, so for a clean start just delete it and verify files through steam.

Good idea Lazza.. I'll delete the devmode folder and see it that works.... No it didn't work thanks anyway.. I'm deleting the whole game as well as c: drive install and start again... I really don't have anything on rf2 anyway so I think my best alternative is to nuke rf2 and reinstall...cheers

I just deleted rf2 started from scratch did the mod mode shortcut with the +trace=3 on the end of the target command line but still no mod mode with the tracks "joesville" and LochDrummond tracks not showing in the track list.

All I get is the tracks in the install of the game showing. anyone have any tips on how to get this mod mode to work?

I don't know if English isn't your first language, or I'm just reading this wrong.

How I'm reading this,
First you say you've unpacked tracks and put them in the same format as Joesville, but doesn't show.
Then you say no tracks show.
Then you say you have two lots of rFactor2 installed.
Then you say you have deleted and reinstalled rFactor2, and no tracks show.
Then you say only the original Joesville and Loch Drummond included in Mod Dev are working.

This implies this is all about your tracks not showing, not Mod Dev not working.
The whole objective of creating the trace file, is because it shows you whats wrong. If you don't read it, or don't attach it here in it's entirety, there's no point in you posting anymore. The answers are in the trace file.

Your next post needs to be;

This is my trace file, with the trace file attached.

When i read this, i suppose that you still open the Game and not the DevMode.

How do you start the Game?

Do it from the opened Steam Client Game Library.
Click on Play or the green Button with the Arrow and then, in the opening Selection Window, click on the DevMode Entry.

woohoo Just tring to get the mod mode to work. Not sure on your comments. Wheres the trace file Im new at rf2...cheers

I did what you said with a signing the "dev mode" launch in steam. Then right clicked play on rf2 icon in library and the game loads up in mod mode.

To test one of the tracks already in dev mode "Joesville track" i select that track with the skip car and load the track. The track loads all the way through its loading process but then at the end it goes back to the menu without going into the track. The game is frozen at this point and I have no choice but to sign off at windows to restart windows so i can get back into windows desktop. I did an integrity scan which no files were installed it just does a verification check. Im dont know why this is happening . I can play the game normally as I tested the game when the game was installed. Any idea on how to fix this guys as I'm lost.
