Hi, I've recently started hosting a dedicated server and want to ensure that anyone joining has any missing content automatically downloaded. (Paid DLC aside) I've read about a 'GetMod' service which allows this but can someone explain how I go about finding and enabling it please? Many thanks, Steve
I have to say that i didn't set up a server in this way, since rfactor 2 is coming from S397 on steam, but i guess 3 things have to be done in any case: 1. the used rfcmp and rfmod files have to be put into the ../Packages folder of the installation that the dedicated server uses and then they have to be installed from there 2. in the Multiplayer.JSON file, the Line "Enable Autodownloads":false, has to be changed into "Enable Autodownloads":true, 3. the http port that rfactor 2 uses, has to be opened in the router That's all i can suggest to do, so far. Maybe someone with a more complexe knowledge can jump in here.
Isn't getmod kind of obsolete, since the rfcmp and rfmod files can be downloaded by http protocol, directly from the server?
Yes and no, generally speaking it is a lot quicker to download via getmod than to download content directly from the server, plus by using getmod service you are not using up the server’s bandwidth as the content is coming from a Dropbox account(usually).
OK, so i have mixed it up a little bit and my suggested settings are only needed for the http auto download from the server, but not for the getmod feature.
