Multiplayer is not even working yet so it's hard to say anything about pcars future. It's a good game and gets better all the time but without a good multiplayer mode the game will go down quickly I guess. At least they are offering (or planning to offer) a multiplatform dedicated server, which is a big pro for pCars multiplayer and a big con for rFactor 2 in my opinion.
Yesterday I did tests of current pCARS build. It is hard to compare both products since we don't know the goal teams want to reach. But for sure, SMS calls its dev stage in correct way: it is alpha while rF2 is IMO also in alpha stage but is called beta. Even in pCARS there are temporary objects/place-holders (ie ugly looking trees). CARS has blast graphics engine especially in term of lighting. But note we may be sure that rF2 will be pure simulator while extent of simulation in pCARS is unknown. My guess is that SMS has no knowledge about tyres comparing to ISI or Kaemer. At the end it may be hard to SMS to compete with ISI in this area. rF2 has weak gfx engine but it is enough to hire single one experienced graphics programmer (like KSczech for example) to make rF2 almost finished. On the other side SMS has a lot of work to do with tyre physics. It may be even harder to achieve than improving gfx in rF2. So.. I wouldn't say SMS is miles ahead. SMS has gfx engine and car models and they working on physics. ISI has physics and is working on gfx. ISI also has developed a few technologies no one other did: for example RealTrack. Time will show who make a job better. But I understand, using 'beta' term for rF2 may be misleading and it is what I talked multiple times about.
ahahahahahahah, pcars, that's not even a half a sim yet, but it does have pretty GFX, so it'll probably outsell rf2, but rf2 will probably be the benchmark sim, so it'll be iracing and the rest who'll have to raise their game.
Where did you get this? I've been looking to drive anything like an F1 in rf2 but the mods are so hard to find that I almost abandonned. Would it be possible to find all mods on one page, instead of having to look into underground to find anything.....
As for underground, if u go to Modding subforum ull find all info needed at the appropriate thread, so?
