I'm trying to play rf2 on steam and when I try to open the app it shows a black or white screen and then crashes.
we need more information. System specifications like video card, & video ram, cpu, system ram, laptop vs desktop. controllers.
ok, simple things first. In Steam Library, under the rFactor2 menu, choose properties>Local Files. From there choose the button to Validate the files. Next, ensure you are using the most recent version of rF2, Same menu, Properties>Betas then choose NONE. Finally when you click PLay , choose the 2nd option, the graphics config tool, and verify your video choices are correct. If you choose either of the two window versions, then your racing screen size should match your windows desktop. There are some other items that can also affect your sim, Look in the following folder for 4 runtime files. run each of those. Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Support\Runtimes
Tried the runtimes, validating and the graphics config. Didn't know abt the betas but using none already. Still no luck
This may sound a little odd, but give it a try. (won't solve the crashing, just want to rule out another possibility) After you click on PLAY and start rF2, Watch the task bar at the bottom of the desktop screen. Look for a white square next to the Steam Icon. If that appears...click once on that. Just verifying that rF2 is the focused program.
@Bacov Before you start the Game, rename the Folder ..\rFactor 2\UserData into UserData_Backup for Example and then start the Game, to get a complete fresh Set of User Files. If that doesn't helps, let the Game generate a Trace File and upload it here then. Maybe we can see something in there, that leads to the Problem
@Bacov Did you already try it with renaming the UserData Folder, like i have suggested above? In your Trace, there is a Problem with a RGPL 24 Hours of Spa Mod, that can not be installed, because of missing Components. Is it the first Time that you use rFactor 2 and does it ever load before, because you seem to have tried to join a RGPL Server? Do you have the Folder ..\rFactor 2\Packages in your Installation and are there Subfolders with Content in the Folders ..\rFactor 2\Installed\Locations ..\rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles ?
