Crash when track is 100% loaded in multiplayer

Hi, I am also facing an issue when i'm trying to connect to the VEC pratice server, no issue in solo mode.
I've ran more or less with no issue during the last weeks, on Sebring, Daytona and Road Atlanta, but this time with Laguna seca it just crashes 100%.

Computer :
  • Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO
  • AMD RYZEN 5 5600X
  • G-Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3600 CL18 32 Go
  • Sapphire RX 6700 10 Go
I tried AMD drivers 22.5.2, 22.7.2 and the latest with the same results.
My graphic card is NOT COMPATIBLE with 22.5.1 drivers so this workaround can not solve the issue for me.

Of course I already tried all common workarounds like :
  • Unsubbing from workshop items
  • Checking local files
  • Deleting CBash and Shaders folders
  • Deactivating plugins
And so on.

I have an XT 6700 MSI AMD card, it runs 22.5.1 with no issues. Granted your card is a slightly cut down version, but I would be surprised that drivers that work for so many brands don't work with your specific variant. Could you explain further please?
Laguna seems to be one of the tracks more prone to the 100% ctd. with 22.10.2 drivers, I was able to load other tracks other than Laguna but after loading, every session would end with a video lockup within a few minutes.

So, here is a new try, I changed my Graphic card with my old one, RX5600XT, and this time i was able to install 22.5.1, but i am still not able to connect to the VEC practice server.

Another CTD during track loading, but this time it happens before reaching 100%.

I uninstalled the game reinstalled, and it still crashes at the same moment (~70% loading).

I have attached the new Dump and trace files to this post.

Ok, so I have been able to connect to the server successfully with all graphics settings at the lowest, i'll try to find the one that is causing the issue asap.

That's going to be hard because with the same settings it's sometimes working, sometimes it's not.

Potato mode seems to be ok 100% , this is the only thing that i'm sure of.

Err, I was wrong, even with the lowest settings when there are more than 4 or 5 drivers in the server the game crashes 100 % meaning I won't be able to race for round 3 of the VEC in a team of 2 drivers ... That's a big issue there and i'm feeling lonely on this thread.

@Alex Sawczuk

There are new 22.11.2 drivers out I see, do they help at all?

I have heard some people have success with newer drivers if they disable all optimization, error detection, and other optional features and clear shader cache etc.

I will reinforce the advice to use DDU in safemode to completely clean out any stray files from your previous device driver.
First download the newest AMD drivers
Download or update the DDU app. Place a shortcut on your desktop.

Getting to safe mode is a little complicated with win11.
Click on Settings: System: Recovery: Advanced Startup: Then choose Restart Now. A new box will appear, again choose Restart Now.
Eventually a blue screen will appear with several choices. Choose Troubleshoot: Advanced: Startup. Then click on the box that says Restart. That should restart your computer and give you a bunch of options including Start In Safemode with Networking. Choose that. and you are FINALLY in safe mode. Have the DDU shortcut on your desktop so you can start it without all the dos mumbo jumbo.

So as a summary :

Computer :
  • Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO - Bios F15e (AMD AGESA V2 1.2.0.7)
  • AMD RYZEN 5 5600X - Chipset Drivers v4.11.15.342
  • G-Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3600 CL18 32 Go
  • Sapphire RX 6700 10 Go - Drivers 22.11.2

I've also cleared AMD shader cache and deleted the rF2 log directory.

Then I entered VEC Pratice server, which is currently using Laguna Seca and ...
Unfortunately I still had a CTD when rF2 reached 100% loading. So you can find minidump and trace files in attachment.

Don't worry, that's exactly the way I've been doing for years ;)

@Gimli Oakenshield surface formation optimisation (optimisation des formats de surface) is definitely one I've seen some people advising to disable.
So did I, exact same configuration as before but with these parameters :
112168

And yet another CTD.
Minidump and trace files in attachment.
