@Corti Thank you. I hope it could be repeated somehwere around weekend, perhaps I would be able to catch up too. Is there a typical time when some people to drive/race with could be expected ? @mjo1704 I think you are probably at some particular track that has problems, or your settings ? @Chris Lesperance There are so many things to do in rF2 that first times never ends. And sometimes you need 2nd 3rd and 4th time to really dig it lol I don't envy working on modern cars. Or not even super modern. To get them really well you are working with tiny margins of parameters. And more elements. It was a lot more simple in everything before 70s, and more simple before mid 60s, and more simple before 60s. Albeit with own nuances. In modern race cars you may not have issues related to large suspension travels... But you do have a lot going on with aerodynamics. Thats nasty bug you got, I think it would be nice to catalog rF2 bugs such like that one, so people would be more aware. Yes it must be that case with cooper arms, although I havent tried to push them far towards inside of the body, just to check if that would make a difference. I might just completely remove those arms, since they were not used on many of these Coopers.
server open until further updates with this configuration but suggestions are welcome. View attachment upload_2025-1-27_22-14-0.png
Thank you yet again! You are single-handedly keeping rF2 at the forefront of sim physics. This car feels awesome. Great feedback even on my old G25. Tried some laps at old Rouen and definitely had to keep my attention focused. Loved it. Strangely for rF2, I added a click of tire pressure at the front. The 1.5 liter engine fits the car well. Keep it up!
I tested Cooper's reflections on other tracks too no dynamic reflections, for example on Lancia Ferrari it works great
It could be that your graphical settings are low. This combined with the car having not verry strong car paint reflective properties. But you can see in screenshots available, that carpaint is alive. I would like to see your screenshots. You could try showing me frew screenshots via private message.
Thank you for this awesome car! No one else seems to have this problem, but the cockpit eye view is looking slightly down for me, maybe 20 degrees. The virtual mirror gets in the way of seeing the track sometimes. I have to recenter my TrackIR while looking down to get a normal viewpoint. No other car does this (including your D50 and W125), so I don't think it's my TrackIR.
Pretty sure it's the .CAM file. In there it has a line for "OrientationOffset" for the COCKPIT camera. Below is taken from a different car. LocalCam=NOSECAM { Fov=(89, 50) Clear=TRUE Color=(0, 0, 0) ClipPlanes=(0.4, 900) LODMultiplier=(1) Size=(1, 1) Center=(0.5, 0.5) MipmapLODBias=(0) Flags1=(0) Flags2=(0) OrientationRate=(240, 360, 120) PositionOffset=(0.0, -0.3, -0.75) //(Left-Right, Up-Down, Back,Forward) OrientationOffset=(0.0, 0.0, 0.0) //(+Pitch-up, +Yaw-Clockwise, +Roll-Clockwise) } LocalCam=COCKPIT { Fov=(89, 50) Clear=TRUE Color=(0, 0, 0) ClipPlanes=(0.08, 650) LODMultiplier=(1) Size=(1, 1) Center=(0.5, 0.5) MipmapLODBias=(0) Flags1=(0) Flags2=(0) OrientationRate=(500, 800, 300) PositionOffset=(0, 0, 0) OrientationOffset=(-0.03, 0, 0) }
Thanks for pointing this out. I do have -0.15 value there. But the view is good to me. Maybe it becomes an issue with certain FOV + seat position ?
graphics settings are maximum, I'll take a couple of comparison stills from a video with different cars where the car drives under a bridge, for example, where the bridge should be reflected in the car body, should I send the pictures to your email or here on the forum?
@mjo1704 I took a look. I didn't believe, but you are right. PBR json was missing "REFMAP0". @atomed I also don't know what you mean, I have 200 range. 100 forward, and 100 backwards. Anyway. I have pulled default position 5cm backwards.
I checked the D50 and it has the same problem for me, I just didn't notice previously. The two screenshots below show my view. The top half is with the TrackIR centered normally. The driver's eye is looking down at the edge of the shadow cast by the garage. In the bottom half, I recentered the TrackIR while looking down slightly, then looked straight ahead for the screenshot. The view is now normal. I set the seat position to 0,0 before taking the screenshots. View attachment upload_2025-2-1_22-4-54.png
this post has two comparison pictures of azur in the track tunnel where you can see the reflection of the tunnel lights on the car body, nothing is reflected from the tunnel on the cooper while reflections are visible on the body of the lancia
@Flatspotter @mjo1704 I see you guys like to choose modern historics cars haha I am also thinking about W125 modern historics version, although there aren't such modern historics races with them, but it would be quite amazing with even more power (it would be 50-80hp more probably), better tires, better brake shoes. I have just reduced cockpit cam inclinations for D50 and T43. And T43 had reflection mapper refmap0 missiong, now fixed. Just have to wait their turn for update. In a week or two probably. Maybe more improvements will have to be made.
