I chose the azure track for these pictures when I saw the motor vision channel on the vintage class races from the monaco track from 2024 it's great that vintage racing cars can still be raced and thanks for the great mods, these are fun and challenging to drive
@atomed I never used that parameter. Didn't even know where it is. Turns out it is in HDV. I don't see how I can expand it to be 200/200, but probably can make back and fore extents larger. @mjo1704 It is very nice. I fell in love with historics because of Goodwood. Such a cool vehicles. And turns out they can get a ton more fast these days, especially prior 1960 ones. But even those from up to mid 60s can be a lot faster than same cars were originally. Thats how much can be gained from stiffened chassies, better oil, various engine parts, better damping, better tires etc... https://www.goodwood.com/grr/column...e-how-much-faster-has-historic-racing-become/
Little update of what I am doing. I have been about to update this car about like three-four months ago, was very close to that. But I was feeling unwell for a long time, and it happens that you actually do need pretty good health to work on physics, as intense test driving can exhaust you quickly. Driving fast is one thing, but driving fast and at the same time figuring out vehicle dynamics and what does what is really tiring, especially once you get stuck. I don't even remember what exactly I was improving. But I remember I have had better engine power data offered by good person at racedepartment. Besides that I was adding two new chassies as upgrades. I remember I got stuck on them, as both of them were pretty awful. Currently I just started feeling better (hopefully will remain so after I'll stop antibiotics). Got back to rF2 and in short time I have done so many cars for myself, and it was very fun and all in rapid success. Most of them models were available, or somewhat available. And most of them I already had physics developed up to decent level. Got quite well going with GT40MK1. Took tires from current XJ13 version. Did some tire improvements, that I could perhaps implement to XJ13. Naturally I have bumped into Maserati 250F, which I will be releasing. It was quite bad for a while, I did many improvements, but it still was bad. Then I realized that ackerman geometry was wrong, fixed that and it was the thing. Possibly same thing could be looked at in Lancia, although that one is probably correct as is, but will check. I am posting in Copper thread perhaps because it was the last one I drove today, and I also realized what I have to fix. One chassis seems already fixed, just need more testing. Another one seems like it also needs heavily altered setup, and some setting might need to be expanded. The third chassis is very important because it will be segway into Cooper T51, which I will be definitely doing someday... It is legend car, and Mexes models are superb. I guess if it goes well enough Vanwall VW5 also by Mexes can be expected. I am enjoying growing this personal collection of cars. I figure a car or two per month is reasonable, assuming the model is available. Many of these cars I will not share, but I would love to show you how they are in some way, maybe through videos. Besides that I would also love to give justice for Goodwood finally, and also boost up Nemuno Ziedas, but thats a lot of for me, because still have to learn how to approach them properly. If by some chance there is anyone with general interest that read through this whole text, then thank you. I hope you are doing well.
Perhaps close to your current modding themes... narration is, unfortunately for myself, in French. Skinny tires are still cotton cord Dunlop R3, Pirelli Stella Corsa, and Englebert. @mantasisg Glad you're feeling better, and glad you're continuing to create cars on rFactor 2. As usual, the words you use speak volumes and demonstrate the passion and seriousness you put into your modding work : Thank you for your work, and get well soon.
Thank you, guys. Health is single most important thing, you know it as soon as it goes. On top of everything I have developed a "tennis elbow", it takes so long to heal it, definitely driving ten+ laps at Nordshleife per day is not ideal for recovery. I can't use a lot of FFB "laughing"... It has been productive day... it was raining, so productive in computer... Been adjusting tires (found them a little too grippy) and setups for Cooper per three different chassies. I have not made any changes to Lancia. Although I would probably reduce it's steering lock, so it would be easier to be precise, but then at the same time steering would become slightly slower. And D50 needs both precise and quick hands at exacly same time. There is a little bit in me wanting to make D50 a little easier, but I don't see much what to do and if there could be something, then I wonder if that just wouldn't be wrong, because to me that car feels right. It is, as all of them very sensitive to dampers. Last but not least there are tires, which can always be made to be super easy to handle, but then it will show in how car moves and driving techniques. 250F in comparison to D50 and Cooper is a lot more simple, and I can see how someone almost in his 50s or even 60s could have raced it competitively. It likes precision, but doesn't require nearly as much quickness with hands. It feels slightly underpowered maybe, compared to D50 and Cooper (with more powerful engine), but then somehow ends up hitting very similar speeds before braking points, I guess it just carries momentum better and the way it likes to glide in gentle slides helps with that. I have to do 250F in a way that it will keep its "X" factor, not to be boring and characterless. I like it best with smaller diameter rear tire, shorter gears, lighter fuel load. 250F Model implementation is going alright. But as almost always, I am getting issues with rims blur effect. Makes me wonder how I got it working well so quickly with GT40. Little view from Loch Drummond testing 250F: And some Goodwood MK1 testing, doing my Frank Stippler impression, I want to get my head around how to clean up and PBR Goodwood:
Loving it! Thank you for creating these wonderful cars. Glad to hear your health improving. Best wishes.
250F is out, and people are downloading it like crazy. My Discord is booming https://discord.gg/HDmYKUAV Looks like it is time to finally update Cooper, I was about to do it months and months ago, but then my health said "No" to me. Now I have enough help to do testing of three chassies in this mod, bascically three cars. No wait there is also Modern Hostoric version with all three chassies, so this makes six cars. Of course they aren't totally different. There will be some minor changes to model, nothing much. Remodeled engines power curves, thanks to data from kind stranger. I am replacing modern historic tire compound, taking one that now VW5 and 250F uses (which is supposed to be Dunlop R5). Doing little bit of changes to main mod 1957 tire comp, aiming to make it little bit friendlier, closer to 1957 Dunlop R4 tire, but not exactly same as in Vanwall. Can tell these are related, and I don't mean the drivers. Like Shwarzenegger and DeVito:
Looks like there is an update https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3415205058 First of all thanks for kind gentleman who has offered some data for engine power curves. Second also great help by 7bhp_MK providing me with nice UI icons, thank you. Update notes: - Reworked engine curves; - Added two more chassies optional through upgrades just like engines; - UI icons; - Updated, could be said - new tires. For orignal car and "Modern Historics" car too; - Various little changes to physics; - Few slight improvements to model implementation side. A lot of work was needed to adjust to new tires and obviously new chassies. But looks like everything met nicely half way. I hope you will enjoy. It isn't easiest car to drive. Sometimes it seems easy and as soon as you loose concentration it snaps away. It is difficult to make universal setup, every track seems to need setup adjustments, more than most cars need. And to me it is difficult to test everything, this car is like 3-5 cars in one. I almost forgot to test wet car handling, thankfully I did remember to do that as adjustments were needed. Car is still very snappy in wet in Zolder, more than I like, but I loved it in Thruxton - my main wet physics testing ground. Also invitation to my discord for those want more cars in future, talk about simracing, modding, pizza... I am preparing to build pizza oven, no joke, it is serious. https://discord.gg/HDmYKUAV
Does T43 update work ? I have heard from one person that there are issues. I have renamed its folder to start with "MI_", maybe it could have produced an issue ? Fresh subscribe probably should bring no issue. But I wonder about autoupdated mods, a bit worried. ****** Other news. Begun working on implementing Mexes T51 model. I think it will be fun car too. Currently still have to reduce mesh by one third of its polygones, and add spokesblur objects. Work should be fairly esy due car being a lot similar to T45. Of course it will take time too. But I expect speed with this one. Probably will release to my discord at first, for testing and before I take care of things like LODs, skins and so. But this car will be all public sooner than later of course. Look at beautiful model, people don't know how much work was put in it. And this is not even highest detail level of the model.
i tested the cooper update version at donnington national track in rain and dry weather everything worked great and i must say this mod is a masterpiece. what a driving feel, the car details, the rain effects on the windshield. i have a g29 wheel and the ffb in the whole range is one of the best on that wheel thanks a lot for this mod
I reported on Steam. I have rfmods uses v0.8 so first thing I do is uninstall the rfmod ( but don't delete it ) Then I uninstalled the v0.80 package. Downloaded v0.85 let steam install it. Does not show in all cars and tracks. Does not show any folder in installed\vehicles. Old rfmod won't install of course missing v0.8 I did not delete v0.8 without first checking that v0.85 was not a update to v0.80 ( v0.8 was not bold so I deleted it) Tried re-subbing a few times but same result. Seems if you have v0.8 installed already it works okay ? You can see in beyond and compare it exists but mod manager doesn't see it. Mod is subscribed and installed according to steam. Does not exist in mod manager.
If you want to test 1. Unsubscribe and delete v0.8 making sure to first uninstall any rfmods with v0.8 *** If you don't uninstall rfmods using it it won't be removed. 2. download v0.85 fresh Also checked MAS 2 making a new rfmod car does not exist in vehicle selection list.
Very strange I can't generate an idea what could be wrong. I updated as all moders update, with all new whole package, I think only official developer do updates of only fragments of packages when the rest is unchanged. It shouldn't require 0.8 version of Cooper T43/45. 0.85 should be in installed/vehicles folder in folder "MI_1957_Cooper_T43", and under "F1 1950s" category in game. Something probably had to have remained out of files of 0.8, maybe something related to it. I don't remember what exactly we had in the past with 1954 Endurance mod, I thin kthere also used to be some kind of problem when somthing didn't get properly removed and uninstalled from previous version, and then new one wouldn't get properly installed, I forgot what it was. Maybe it is similar issue.
