As the title says; I converted a couple of cars from rFactor 1, and they appear like this on the track. The cars are loaded normally in the car selection screen before loading the race; The #1 car is evidently James Hunt, but the game loads the helmet and the wheels of John Watson (Brabham). The other cars don't have wheels or helmets at all. I have no idea what is causing this? The mod's buildup is like this; Each team has its own .mas file, the MAIN and TEAMS directories also got their own .mas file.
It can't be answered easily, because there can be several different reasons for that and we don't know, what exactly you have done. Screenshots seem to be made from the single player. I always would suggest to get the cars loading properly in the devmode, before you package a rfcmp file. In the devmode, extract all files of the mod into a proper folder structure, don't use any mas files (except of the sounds if you want) and get it loading and driving properly there.
Maybe there is also a common_gmt folder you missed? Otherwise cars could have same gmt names and that mixed all. In this case you need to rename gmts and gen strings (i had same problem with f1 1971 conversion) EDIT. if spinner (showroom) is ok i think it's a .Gen problem related
Replacing a part of the .gen file seems to work. Only the cars look a bit odd now. I suppose that can be fixed by altering the pivot points?
Btw When you convert wheels and steering wheel .Gmt with 3dsimed you have to import rf1 gmt like model (not like object) or you lose their pivot point I don't know if it's your case
Right, since it was impossible to convert the older F1 mods I decided to convert an endurance car instead. It worked out of the box except for the headlights. How do I make the head- and rear lights work?
With 3dsimed You have to change carbody (and others materials too) shaders and specular maps You could try to paste/copy from official contents like bt44 or similar car With some practice you could have a not bad results I started to convert cars 2 weeks ago
Should I change the materials (which I have done, to no effect) -and- the objects? Nice car by the way.
if you have selected a correct shader maybe could be blending attributes (expecially "blend result") i use this for carbodys
Open s397 brabham bt44 gmts and copy them A friend wrote my this tips There is 4 kind of materials I use to make things simple: 1) car body material (used for helmet too) 2) glass that is used for... glass 3) Chrome that is used on chrome objects 4) Specular Map T1 that I use 75% of the time. If you doubt what to use, then use this one P. S. As i remember for tyres it's deformable tyre
The cars look like this now. I only changed the materials of the Oreca but I guess it transfers to the other cars as well.
