connecting custom designed hardware for car control

Hello forum,

Is it possible to pass car control values (such as steering, acceleration, brake e.t.c) through internal plugin which reads data (possibly serial port) from a custom designed hardware(steering wheel, brake & acceleration paddles)?

No, because it would open a way to cheating.
If you have custom designed hardware then use USB controllers to make its axes DirectInput compatible.
