    How 'critical' is it that the options within the file are set?
    My file..............

    //[[gMa1.002f (c)2014 ]] [[ ]]
    [COMPONENTS]
    LanguagesFile=GAME.DIC
    CPURating=1
    SystemRAM=0
    VideoRAM=3808
    ObjDetail=1
    TexDetail=1
    VideoGUID=D7B71EE2-24F1-11CF-8776-0A2BBEC2C535
    VideoDriver=0
    VideoMode=32
    VideoRefresh=0
    WindowedMode=0
    Borderless=0
    RunBenchmarks=1
    FSAA=39
    VSync=0
    UsePostFX=1
    UseHDRProcess=1
    ShaderLevel=0
    SubViews=0
    WidescreenUI=1
    WidescreenHUD=1
    CustomVidRes=(0, 0)
    MinimumVidRes=(800, 600)
    MaximumVidRes=(8000, 6000)

    [INSTALL]
    InstallFrom=
    InstallTo=

    [AUTOLAUNCH]
    Mode=Off
    LaunchTime=600

    [VERSION]
    Version=-1.000000

    In mine no systemram is set,I have 16GB.
    Video driver not set?
    Runbenchmarks is set?
    shaderlevel not set?

    I went back to rF1 because rF2 constantly crashing but rF1 did exactly the same :(
    So the long long process of trying to determine why is back on.
    I'm starting with drivers,my video ram checked out ok so I think I can rule out any card malfunction?
    Also other games play fine,no crashing,just rFactor 1&2 crash in the same way.

    I'm just wondering if one can fill in the config.ini manually?

    I have a core2duo OC'd to 3.6ghz and a R9 290 (which has 4GB of ram)
    This is a brand new fresh install done 30 mins ago.

    your differences are:-
    systemram - yours seems to be correctly documented
    cpu rating - i7 v core2duo
    video mode - not sure?
    video ram - (Seems to be way higher than your actual cards ram while mine is lower?)
    runbenchmarks - no idea why mine is set to 1?

    I tried changing my config to show 0 system RAM and set benchmarks to 1 but had no crash.

    The config.ini definitely does not show correct settings.
    How critical these failures are I have no idea?

    Hopefully we can get an ISI reply to these 'problems' ?

    If you log a support ticket, you most certainly will.

    I know you've been struggling with this for a while and if the simple stuff like run as admin makes no difference, I'd be inclined to reinstall windows.

    Before that step though, give support a chance.

    ;) when you said a fresh install, I thought you meant rF2.

    It will make a difference, I'm sure. Is it the reason you are crashing, not so sure.

    I'm hoping it's the ACP driver/software in the ATI drivers...............
    Just removed them and had a good 20/30 minute play time.
    It would also make some sense as they are related to R9 cards that have the new onboard sound chip.
    Although pretty sure I've tried before without ACP and had the crash..........time will tell.........
