My impression is the actual format separates the fans more than the car shape. Old farts appreciate a Judd or Cosworth V8 scream vs the Scalectric slot car sound the fE motors produce. That and the incredibly tight courses needed to produce laps on one battery charge. Perhaps one day they will develop a quick change battery that can be swapped out just by driving over it.(enter the pits, drop the worn out battery, coast over and attach a fresh battery). Also the fE series seems to be raiding Sporstcar drivers more than drivers from other series. Established fans always complain when driver X is not at the race due to an electric slot car race somewheres.
