Oregon is a beautiful place.
YES, Yes it is. But it's cities dominate the state, Just like Washington State.(which I left). Crater Lake is awe-inspiring(the deep waters actually connect to a similar volcanic lake in California, far far to the south.). The deserts of the central highlands are magnificent. Multnomah falls in the Spring.... The coastal mtns which run down from Canada thru California are littered with dormant volcanoes. (Shasta, Hood, St. Helens, Ranier, Baker, etc.) The long Pacific beaches which would be tourist Meccas if the Northern Pacific was as warm as California's coastal waters. But back to my original point, lol, Downtown Portland is a mass transit dominated transportation hub, but the city was never built with mass transit in mind. They have have given free reign to the train/bus and trying to drive yourself in a car is downright dangerous. Ya can't turn for blocks and blocks, and you can only turn if the lane you are in continues to the next corner without being replaced by the 'Bus Only' lanes or the trolley tracks that cut right thru the lanes of traffic.
You may have guessed, I've spent 'some' time in Oregon. :)
