Three years (or two?), before RF2 was released, this photo of a mod for RF2 was published I beleived this was the quality RF2 cockpits would have, but I think they never did. What happened, anyone have an idea why not? At the same time AC cockpits look like that Isnt there something that can be done about it?
rf2 cockpits have 2 mains issues 1-they are too much dark. 2-there is a lack of depth and tridimensionality! The first photo is very similar to the AC one, because you can feel the depth of the cockpit!
If only Assetto Corsa cockpits were as detailed in-game as their screenshots. Their digital dashboards are pants.
And ac has more sim qualities. Wet weather real road night racing etc. Ac have the time to make forza like cockpits. Sent from my RM-875_eu_euro1_260 using Tapatalk
Arent they. I dont have AC but friends reported that its cockpits are not comparable to RF2. For me, having cockpits like that in RF2 would make the game really shine.
Talking out of your butt won't bring anything to this topic, by the way. ^^ That URD cockpit shot isn't comparable because to begin with, the source material isn't as detailed as the WSGT2 one. Second of all, the WSGT2 one has a very detailed cockpit (duh ) with additional 3D assets and material settings. Third, the AC cockpits do look that detailed in game but the actual digits on the dashboard (behind the steering wheel) are inexplicably of much less quality. Fourth, it's up to the ISI staff/contracted folks to create the material at that very high level.
Should be possible to create such cockpits for rF2 but it takes a lot of time, good material settings, spec maps, normal maps, ambient occlusion maps and more polygons. With the current ram limitations i don't see this happen in the near future.
the cockpits look pretty good to me and I get a real feel of depth especially when the sun casts shadows in the cockpit as I take a turn. It's an amazing effect you can't really get a screenshot of. the civic has an awesome looking cockpit This is a rF1 conversion and even this one looks pretty damn good. rF2 screenshots don't come out right for me either, I use 3 screens and there's always a bend in the picture that is not there when I am in game. It's a screenshot issue with rF2.
Does it not come down to dx 9 and dx11 having better shaders and what not? Sent from my RM-875_eu_euro1_260 using Tapatalk
No mate, in the showroom they look lovely, in game, even at max settings I can't replicate those screens. As I said before, also, the digital dash's look fairly bad in my opinion too. The MP4-12C GT3 dash compared to the iRacing version is.... well, not good. I think they may slightly be blinded by "AC fever" bud. Disclaimer; I'm not hating on AC, I enjoy it. I just don't think it's the holy grail of all sims like a lot of people seem to.
You know what? It was a stern post from me, agreed. I shouldn't have written it such way even if a few repeat people regularly post the way they do, it could just be down to not knowing any better.
Very different views I think. And Im sure not blinded by "AC fever" but I am blinded by AC and PCars cockpits
1959nikos, Plot twist: What if I told you that that CLK AMG GTR cockpit actually is taken in... rFactor 1? It just amazing texture/3D/material-work by Arnold Wong and Wim Bries... It is perfectly possible to get good looking cockpits in rF2, it's just about having the skillset and time to apply it... EDIT: I better read more thoroughly next time, you pointed out yourself in the original post that it was taken before rF2 was available
