Circuit Zolder is here!

I tested in different weather conditions and also at night on a Tatuus 318 and a Porsche 920 and after such a short test I can say it is a masterpiece.
thanks for your hard work

After watching Michi Hoyer driving, I have to say it does look pretty good. Starting by letter Z makes this track conveniently last in store, you have to know it is there.

I hope it has beautifful trackside cameras. I find most if not all great rF2 tracks missing more cameras to have some more picturesque views.

Ii thought the reason I supported DLC for so long, was so they would fix long standing issues.

Still the best drive anyways.

This is not so much a S397 project, as Fred's with assistance from S397 & the Circuit itself. I am more than comfortable adding this to my track list...as soon as I can, and I would not expect this to supersede any long standing issues that need improvement.

I will say, the dang STEAM store is confusing. I can find the track via the link in the first post. But when I launch the Steam Client, I can search and search and not find it.

Yeah, it was a work in progress, a lot changed visually for V1, but it's still in decent shape in his video.
Trees looked off to me. I loved Michi's second gear launch in the DTM, that was hilarious!

For V1, I spent a long night session working into the morning to significantly improve the trees, grass details, and race groove. I took my time drawing all the details manually, one by one, since I needed more variety—dry grass, longer grass, and mowed grass sections. I see this as an artwork. I could have kept it at 8K texture resolution, but I found that 4K was crisp enough keeping into account the limitations of the rF2 engine. I wanted to fill the paddock way more but it would draw too much power, more modern engines can handle this fine.

From Reiza work I learned how to test on performance issues and that helped me a lot to overcome the start/paddock area. Spa-Francorchamps also has this issue that you cannot LOD out the Gstand for example if you are on one of the sides. I did clever mesh work to hide things when you are on different positions. Sometimes not easy as I take into account lower spec computers, so a high end will be hungry for more. Bit give and take, but it is fine now.

Looking ahead, I think it can only become better from here on. I'm wondering if people would enjoy a second track option with fixed tire stacks at the chicanes - it might be more challenging like the real 24-hour races, which would offer a completely different experience.
But also a hard wall if you hit them

The BMW on very stiff springs, full sent through Jacky Ickx and way over the curb, be aware.

Trail braking into T1 is absolutely addictive – I feel it in my bones every time I hit this corner. Getting right up against that concrete wall on the right side and trusting the car to rotate naturally under braking... there's nothing quite like it. When you nail that perfect balance of brake release and steering input, letting the car settle into the corner while maintaining maximum speed – pure driving bliss.
This corner never gets old! The section around T2-3 same thing but very technical as you need to get max speed through them.

Few extra shots and found out the 7h30 pm setting in game gives amazing sunsets like real life. T3-4 the sun is low in front of you, trees and powerplant blades are casting shadows over the scene, around 9pm the darkness falls and many little lights and reflectors come to life around the track. I really love to drive this setting in the Mazda cup by @Nick9320 for a good hour stint. I think old open wheelers in VR will be a nice experience at this setting together with a typical 24h grid.

Here you see how the hour is progressing, first image has the Otto bar resto/bar in the rear, took me 6 days to model that building.
Has a Marble Zolder Monument in front of it (not visible on photo), meanwhile going full in the brakes and sent it full into the "kleine Chicane", little Chicane.

The night faded in here almost at the end of the race, section to Bolderberg over the bridge of entry Circuit.
Small lights and reflectors gently set the scene..

Belgian Marshals are watching up close to our community members, the pit is open :p.

Meanwhile a fight between me and two AI cars is getting a close bumper race session, going on for 8 laps.

Last lap, P1 is ready for the last 2 turns over the finish.

Feeling ya, with the searching, when i found it I was like “that was easy”.
In steam go the rF2 store page and hover over the “ITEMS AVAILABLE FOR THIS GAME” graphic and a button will pop up with “Shop available items”, click it and on the next screen select “all” and type Zolder in the search bar and enter and voila.
