Released Caterham Academy

hello! @UGM 133
Have you prepared a set up, or do you ride stock? If you have a setup, can you share it?

All I did was bring the toe angles closer to 0 degrees. I think I had 0.2 front, and 0.1 or even 0 on the rear. The reason for this is because for a car with such low power around the Ring you need to maximize straight line speeds and setting up the alignment for minimum tire scrub is the best you can do with the limited setup options.

The update broke the mod, the car jumps when entering the track and the steering is doubled, you have to deactivate it to be able to run
thank you

By any chance are you using a gamepad for steering? There were lots of comments about gamepads in the Release Candidate threads. Seemed to be resolved within the last patch or two. If you are using a gamepad, switch the controller device from gamepad to wheel.(I think that was the cure)
Didn't get any bounce after clicking the Drive button. Are you sure you are using the Long Beach GP Street Circuit v1.01?

thanks for answering
I use a logitech steering wheel and that is how it is configured.
Happens on all tracks Check what happens when I activate the mikee chassis. Jumps and breaks,
Very rare. The mikee chassis,
what effect does the FF of the steering wheel have?

Updated version of my mod for 1.11:

https://e1.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZFOmmZ8ACHdMN2nl5LO9PTUBr9Bh6c5Yry

Car settings to choose from:
Code:
1. Steering - changed the default wheel lock settings to 5 new:
   - default, LockToLock = 2 (which is lower than default S397 anyway,
makes steering 720 degrees as it should be)
   - 8% faster as Mikee did in his Caterham, LockToLock = 1.93
   - 8% faster as percent of LTL, LockToLock = 1.84
   - 22% faster as Mikee did, LockToLock = 1.75
   - 22% faster as percent, LockToLock = 1.56
(Mikee in 22% variant also decreased wheel lock, I know, I didn't)
2. Auto Blip - fixed some clutch timings that made possible to drive this car
in semi automatic mode with paddles with auto clutch, auto blip and auto lift.
3. Chassis - taken from Mikee's mod. It changes FFB to something more in par with other rF2 cars.

Hint: if you use the 3rd option to change the FFB move the caster back to its real life default setting of 4.5.

with simucube 2 your mod makes the wheel oscillating, shaking and violent at stop, impossible to use it, and the car bounces on supsension at stop, it's very bugged.

EDIT : your auto blip fix is awesome, the s397 auto blip is bugged

The biggest difference between the real car and the car in rF2 is the balance of traction, where the car in rF2 understeers more than what I drove. However, that doesn't mean it's unrealistic in rF2 because they're using different tires, which can make a huge impact on the balance.

I recently tested this car again a year since I wrote the above and I think this understeer I mentioned is largely removed. The car feels much more neutral and dynamic now.

I tested it with a wheel rim that's the same diameter as the real car and with a more realistic seating position and it's pretty uncanny how close it feels to the actual car now.

Pasting this post I made in the Mini Cooper thread here aswell because its relevant to both cars.

"Nearly two years later and I still don't drive this car I bought because I cannot drive it with H-Pattern. Only way to drive this car is to turn on auto clutch and use sequential gears, and now the team have moved on to LMU. I bought a H-Shifter specifically for cars like this. When the free 1970's H-pattern F1 cars in this sim work with a H-Shifter, why can't this Mini??? Its the same with the free Caterham....."

you can drive with H-pattern and manual clutch but could not shift from 4th gear directly into 2nd, although you have slowed down enough. You always have to go 4th -> 3rd ->2nd. It is a sort of "sequential H-shifting"

@Paul McC I didn't follow the Threads here and about the Mini.
What exactly is the Problem, that they can't be driven with H-Pattern Shifting?
Yes thats exactly the problem, H-Shifting allows skip shifting (example you can downshift straight from 4th to second, missing out 3rd, just like in a normal stick shift manual), these cars are broken because if you dont shift through the cars sequntially, and try to skip shift, it will just put the cars in neutral. Been like it since day one of these cars release, never been fixed, in two years nearly.

Yeah, it's a weird issue with these cars. Very unfortunate and hard to understand why older content can work in manual shift mode just fine and these two cars cannot.

Unless redapg has found a trick to it, these cars don't shift properly for the same reason you don't need a clutch to change gear in any other cars: they use the new shift protection parameters to force use of the clutch, and something in the implementation logic has messed up non-sequential gear changes (except into 1st).

I can not promise anything, but please try it with the below Update rfcmp.
(remove .txt from the End of the File Name)
If properly installed, the Version in the Menu should be 1.11shift.
Thanks mate but can't get this to work, the file downloads as Txt file not RFCMP and there is no .txt at end of file name to change. I'd assume normally you would just drop it in the packages. or plugins?
