"Cannot modify the current version"

Hi I downloaded update and then activated install after two activating rf2 windows the message appears that reads "Cannot modify current version". Can anyone assist me? Thank you.

 

I too had this problem. Im running windows xp SP3. And i traced it back to admin properties. Atleast it worked for me. )Right Click icon and either Run As Admin or go "Run As" and uncheck "Protect My Computer and Data from unauthorized program activity"
Thoes are the steps i have done to get it to work, Also make sure you have the .exe in c:/my documents/rfactor2/updates|

Hi OffCamber. I tried it. Though unfortunately it didn't work. I have Vista premium i7.

 

Where is your install located? Do you have UAC turned off?

 

Are your directories named "rfactor2" or something else?

 

hi, i've got the same problem but,

if you go to config panel/maintenance center/modify settings of user ... and click ok, then set to Always notify me.
you will be ask to restart
Then update your rf2 & ... it work !

hi there,

I downloaded the update and try to run it (as admin - w764bit).
I get an error message, that I have to place that file in the update directory. but i have non in my rf2 installation.
anyway i create it and placed the update.exe. Try to open it again - same error message.
After that I tryed to search for a update in the game, but there is no updat located.

 

Hi everyone.

The problem was that the rf2 install was installed at a different location. I had installed it in the correct path (x86) So, Everything is working well. Thanks to everyone for their input.
