Hey everyone I have been trying to upload to the steam workshop but cannot. I think it has to do with my ISP. Can someone upload the mods I made to the workshop or help me figure this out?? I got such cool content to share....thanks in advance
If you want them on your account, you would need to give someone access to your account, and that's most certainly a bad idea.
Hello and thanks for the reply. I just want them on the workshop. I can put my credit in the metadata file. Just trying to add to the community.
What exactly is your Problem with uploading your Content? I doubt that it is your ISP or do you think that it is blocked in Steam?
Hello. My problem is that the build config file fails. I have double and triple checked and the metadata file is a .vdp file extension. When I look at the log files it shows that steam is requesting to upload 4 files which is accurate but steam does not receive any packets. I don’t know what else to do…thanks for the help
That is a typo on my part. Past the typo what could be causing the build config file error if the file extension is correct? Case in point when I tried to start my dedicated server on my ISP I had to ultimately go through AWS to host the server due to my ISPs strict rules.
This sounds much like blocking outgoing traffic ... but to be safe I think you can post your vdf file here.
Did you try this, should be pretty straight forward. https://docs.studio-397.com/users-guide/uploading-content-to-steam-workshop
It looks fine to me. If it was your connection that was the issue, usually it says time out or something like that.
Thanks for the look. I used the github tool and it just sits there with no movement. How long should it takes? Not hours I would assume
Thanks again. The app is validating the mod. I truly believe it is because of my ISP strict rules. I guess if this doesn’t work I’ll have to use mega.nz or google drive to share my content. Thanks again
I still doubt that your ISP will block outgoing Traffic for specific Software. If you can upload to mega.nz or other Upload Services, why it should not work for Steam Command or the other Tool too? Do you maybe use any Anti Virus Software that maybe blocks it in its Firewall?
I agree to this - as said: it sounds like blocking outgoing traffic. I am not sure which port is used (need to look it up), but I would say 443 (https). Visiting https websites is incoming traffic on 443 and normally outgoing traffic must not be allowed (but normally all outgoing traffic should be allowed). AFAIK there is a request of Windows operating system first or second time you start SteamCMD (and all other tools which do listen to ports and send data on ports) for opening firewall - did you deny that? If so I come to my first assumption ... The metadata file looks ok - I would remove the empty line tbh, but if that would cause problems SteamCMD or workshop should reply with an error message about it. A neverending lasting connection smells much like firewall ...
just to be sure, what's the size of your preview image ? pretty sure it has to be less than 1 meg. I had issues before where i didn't receive any meaningful error, pretty sure it was the same build config file error, but it was down to the preview image being too large. oh and thanks for the link to the tool, never seen that before
