If you have an AMD video card, you have probably suffered the issue of lockups or crashing at 100% of a track loading. S397 'may' be investigating this problem but for now the only work around is to use an old version of the AMD video drivers v22.5.1. We need to try and get AMD's attention. I know rF2 is a really small title and the AMD user base is well under 50% of the total.(probably around 15 to 20% at most) So the most we can do is send in trouble reports via the AMD Radeon app. Click on the ISSUE REPORTING tab and launch the BUG REPORT TOOL. If everyone routinely submits these bug reports, we may get some teeny tiny notice. When filling out the report, include a link to one of the many threads here of users suffering lockups with AMD cards. May not achieve a durn thing, but we can try.
I have a 6950XT and never have crashes. I have all video card features turned off and rely upon the game to do any settings. I slightly overclock.
It's a regression in their drivers, they should investigate it. We don't know if it's affecting other less-known titles. Regressions are always nasty.
RX 6700 XT here and no Issues with the recent Adrenalin Install. Did do a clean Install using the DDU Uninstaller that removed my Nvidia drivers etc.
I am getting CTD´s when trying to load a Formula Pro race at Spa. At first I though It was due to the 4K 2022 skins mod, so I deleted that, and I also did a clean Install of the 23.7.1 Adrenalin pack but still no go! I spent all afternoon racing at Spa with the LMP 2 and LMP 3 (paid) cars and all went well with the 23.7.1 pack, so don´t know what´s going on. Before all this I did validate my Steam Install and rF2 was missing 8 files which got downloaded and Installed. Also, the Oreca 07 onboard monitor and rear view mirrors are a mess! Could not get the monitor mirror to work right what so ever! I know this has nothing to do with the drivers but just though I would also write about It.
All I can say is use DDU to clean things up and then install v22.5.1. With newer drivers, 'some' tracks will load, only to crash via a video lockup within a few minutes.
I´ll try the v22.5.1, and yeah I do use DDU. Thanks Dave! In my case; It wasn't a track Issue but a car Issue as Spa worked well with the LMP2 and 3 cars but not with the FPro cars. Will do more testing tomorrow.
Version 22.5.1 seems to be working fine with rF2 on my RX 6700 XT. The last two updated versions I used have been reported, hope It helps In some way. Strange though that AC being a year older the rF2, and that also uses a proprietary game engine works like a rocket on the most recent AMD drivers. I mean even RaceRoom or AMS2 work fine on the latest drivers but not rF2
I think the problems began about the time S397 made a concerted push to really improve the track loading times. So perhaps the tricks they used to speed up track loading are what are conflicting with new video driver features that first were released after v22.5.1.
maybe this can lead to an investigation and solution: "AMD Releases Radeon GPU Detective (RGD) 1.0" https://www.techpowerup.com/312562/amd-releases-radeon-gpu-detective-rgd-1-0 https://gpuopen.com/radeon-gpu-detective/
Can add that all Milestone bike games did show graphical issues for their whole portefolio since they used the Unreal engine around 2019 onwards. That has been reported to AMD multiple times. So it wasn't a unique rf2 prob. But the Milestone games do work again since their last 3 drivers (23.5.1).
It even seems more like a specific model case, In this case the 6700 XT as not all users are having Issues with the latest AMD drivers. Overall It´s a bummer that "some" of us have this Issue and need to ride on a one year old driver. @ThomasJohansen Thanks! Now we just need someone from the S397 team to use this tool and Investigate for a solution. Which Is easier said then done
