    Hey all,

Build 880 introduced some hosting bugs to setup a server.

    - Mas2.exe ==> creating a Vmod

If i creat a server mod the traditional way with Mas2.exe and setup the server: not all cars are available.
I've create the Vmod several times and every time there were other cars available to select. Both offline (via serie) and online.

==> Workaround: using the Mas2 from an older install (build 798) or use the dedicated prototype to create a Vmod.
note: using the dedicated prototype with cars in a multipackage does work. But "get missing components" won't download the sounds and talent.

    - Mod manager:

Special Update packages included into Vmod corrupt the original install of the car/track package. Everything needs to be uninstalled and the original package installed again.

==> Workaround: use the mod manager from build 798. But all clients have to do it also.

    - Server Lag:

There was some random lag: all cars disappeared for a brief moment. This was also noticeable on the server replay.
I've hosted events on 2 different machines. Both had the same weird "lag" issues. I've never seen it before...

==> probably it has something to do with the minor memory leak fix. Don't know for sure...

    - Sao Paulo track bug:

When i uninstall a Vmod that's using that track. The track is uninstalled as well.

I will test to see if I can duplicate this.

This is a known bug. The new ModMgr automatically uninstalls old versions when installing new ones which causes problems when installing updates because the updates rely on the old content. An exception for this auto uninstall feature needs to be made on updates.

Does this lag happen when people are joining the server or is it totally random like you say?

This is another new feature. When you uninstall vmods it also uninstalls the content. It affects all content, not just Sao Paulo.

No, it's no join lag. Join lag freezes everything for a very brief moment, and it happens mostly during practice when someone join and there are already +25 drivers online. Beneath 20 driver i never had join lag.

The current lag happens at random in every session. Luckily not during the start or formation lap.
Even guys with good ping 13-50ms disappeared very briefly. Game doesn't freeze like join-lag.

    About the up-date packages:
Leagues use them to add team names, livery's, helmets, suits etc... Because a driver-swap doesn't work with an "alt.dds" skin.
If the "virtual driver" would work in multi-player, creating an update package wouldn't be required. (At least for the cars)
I almost thought it worked! a few month ago i did a test.
    - I had created a few virtual drivers.
    - I made a Vmod: and to my surprise, the virtual drivers were there in the car list in mas2.
    - I setup a server and in the rF2 dedicated server.exe, the virtual drivers were there as well.
    - But when i logged into server as client, the virtual drivers were not there...

I think it only needs tick-boxes for the virtual drivers in Mas2 to embed the Virtual drivers into the Vmod, like you can embed an update package (RIP at the moment)

about Sao Paulo: have uninstalled 4 different car/track combo's build with the new mod manager.

    Indycar at Soa Paulo
ISI GTs 1,2,3,4 at Soa Paulo
Classic EVE and Spark at Brianza
    Howston G4&G6 at Brianza

Only Soa Paulo was uninstalled. All cars and Brianza wad still Available.

BTW: Vmod download on multiple passworded servers is working like a charm!!!
Next week: i can use your tool.

And I'm curious if you could make a Vmod with all ISI GT's and track with all cars available when you use it offline or online.
Same with the Indycar: only 6 cars the first time, 10 cars the second Vmod and 3 cars the third attempt...
Same with the Forumula classic Vmod. Some cars are not there when i use it.

Let me know if it worked for you? I've made a lot of Vmods in the past.
Maybe i've missed something... Or has changed to the way it i'm used to do.

    Anyway, thanx for the reply!

edit ==> only 11 default cars available! Vmod made with build 880 mas2. There should be 13 F3.5 default cars.

Build 880 : I have the same issue on our beta mod, car not visible on the selection of vehicles, Impossible to see one of the car on the list of the server selection. In the mod it's present.
I tested in single player using the mod, and there is the same issue, one of the car is not visible. When you use all car & track, the cars is usable.

Someone can put a old modmanager working version here to unlock me to create my rfmod?

Sometimes it is very useful :). I've found it accidentally some time ago at the
    rF 2 Downloadarchive.

I can confirm the cars missing from the list in MAS2 880 , I find if you do the 'hold ctrl' to select multiple's that they suddenly appear in the list ,this is on the last page of the MAS2 where you package the mod , now if you go one by one down the list with 'ctrl' you can get more cars but still not all of them ..its random tho sometimes you get all the cars other times just a few.. but highlighting them with 'ctrl' does make more of them appear .. hope they can fix this soon .. makes it tuff for league events when you can't select all the cars from the mod ... example in the IRL DW12 vmod im making for a league event there were only 5 cars to choose from ;-/

so are you saying if I use an older MAS2.exe where this bug is not present that all the players also have to have the older MAS2.exe ? I think I miss read that earlier post , seems that I could build the vmod with the older MAS2.exe with no issues from clients with the new 880 build .. ?? right?

    Thanks !

No, Clients don't have to install another Mas2.exe. :D It's only needed to create the Vmod. :p

I use build 798 because we used it for a league. But i think any older builds MAS2.exe with no bugs will be good.
To create a Vmod, you'll need to install the content on the build 798 install first, then create the Vmod with the MAS2.exe from build 798.

But it's also possible that overwriting the MAS2.exe from an older build in the Build 880 install resolve the issue. But I don't know what will happen with next update: You could get an error when the auto-updater wants to update the MAS2.exe.

This "missing vehicles" issue has been present for long time, I thought it was more than reported
My workaround is simply click on first vehicle (right side) and then scroll down and up again, and voila, vehicles are visible

About lag mentioned by Gijs van Elderen, I have also noticed it several times, randomly during race session, vehicles disappear for one or two seconds, both from sight and from progress bar; this happens for all drivers connected to server, really annoying!

    byyyyyyyyyyye

This is how I select all cars. Click on the first one on the list, then hold shift and then hit the down arrow until you get to the end of the list.

Yes, me too, but in the B880, using this method is not enough, there is a bug because the filter of the rfm are not respected and all the car you select are not present in the selection when hosting.
I had not bug before the b880.

Oh okay. I haven't built a vmod with the MAS tool in a long time. I've been using my own tool for making vmods.

I have found that if I make the vmod... then remake and overwrite it...all the cars get added on the 2nd go
