NEED INFO Build 379 Unstable Release Test

Great job .. I think you could say stable.

tire wear graphically works
increased fps with clear sky
only one thing, the dust and the spray of the rain much lower FPS.

just tried it but that didn't help...its a weird one as this has never happened before and if I try it in build 342 its all good
Are you using an old cotroller ini, one you are sharing with 342, or a new one created by 379? And thanks for continuing to reply.

I created a new one within 379...just now I tried bringing my 342 controller.ini across with same result...and its only pit request...if I assign something like drs flap to the same button it works no probs

I have spent most of my offline-racing with this build today. So far I have not found anything worth mentioning really.. No game-breaking bugs at least. I have done most of the driving in wet conditions.

I also have some pieces missing on my historic driver. And like minibull said, the head is not properly aligned to the body...but that has nothing to do with the new build, I have seen it before.

- Rainspray is back (for all opponents) and works quite good I think. It's not as fps hungry as before. I could drive behind 10 AI's at Spa and stay above 50 fps (still very heavy though...but absolutely playable).
But the "optimizations" or "improvements" that has been done to the rainspray seem to be making the spray thinner, so it doesn't look very good from trackside cameras. I think it looks fine from behind at least. And I don't know if it is affected by the "soft particles" setting? I have it set to low however.

The drying process is much improved but still way too fast. When driving behind 10 AI's at Longford I had almost completely dry racing line. At Spa, behind 10 AI's, it was much better (probably because the track is longer), but still there was a thin drying line created as shown below (after 1 lap)

The AI is driving in a long train formation even in the wet, so it looks kinda funny when they are driving with 3 meters between each other and a huge spray that can't allow them to see anything at all. Of course this is a problem because human drivers need to avoid opponents spray but AI's do not.

I'll continue playing this build, but so far it's working really good for me. The lag when entering car selection is gone. It still takes some time but I think it's much improved. The fps seem to be about the same as b342 for me.

Switched replay compression to low by default; the PLR file option "Compress Replay" now goes from 0-4 rather than 0-1. This takes less than half the time to write out at the end of a session (which is the source of the delay after long sessions), and typically uses only about 5-10% more space. If the delay is still annoying, consider turning off compression completely.

Will this affect replay quality? What should I set it to for best possible replay? 0?

Also... standing water is not re-created when rewinding the replay anymore. I think it works with b342... not perfect but it's working.
When starting the race on damp track, then driving a few laps until dry racing line, then rewind to the start and the track looks dry.

This is data, lossless compression. So it's not like JPEGs that lose quality - it's a pure filesize/compression speed balance. (decompression is basically unchanged - the processing hit comes during compression)

Yep, this is the same sort of compression as when you RAR or ZIP a file, so it makes sense to find a best possible compromise between file size & compression time, which is probably what ISI has chosen as default now.

@Tim...just letting you know I fixed my "pit request" problem...I couldn't figure it out until B382 was released which gave me the same problem...so I then tried to uninstall the unstable build and discovered that when I tried to delete it I couldn't as it was "being used by another program" which was weird in itself lol...anyways I used ccleaner to force the deletion and straight away "pit request" worked again in B382

cheers ;)

Is there a new unstable version or is v379 the latest?

Sorry, I'm a bit confused with the version numbering.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused with the version numbering.

Build 382 supersedes 379; the unstable builds don't have any experimental features that aren't included in subsequent 'stable' builds, in other words.

When a new unstable build is released this thread will be replaced. Until then build 382 is the latest we have.

Understood. Thank you.
