I did google it... Heh. A sim is a sim I guess. I wouldn't expect any modders who has patreon or similar to give things for free later though. I would be happy of course, who doesn't like free stuff. But it doesn't disappoint me that it doesn't.
If we are talking about AC modders, we are talking about two completely different worlds. If Cyril gets enough money to have a few beers over each weekend, I would be surprised.
It has been 2 months since anyone posted here and even longer since the last update. What is new and when are we getting the next car?
I find it amazing that people feel it's perfectly normal to pay €10 for a beer at a festival, or a concert, or a track, ... whilst at the same time not being able to find in their thought processes, the empathy and recognition for the modders that would steer them into giving them, on a monthly basis, what accounts in most cases to just 50% of that festival beer...
And if someone is short on cash and wants to support multiple modders, I don't see any shame in jumping in a out of someone's Patreon, to go into another, specially here, in rF2, which is a tiny community ...
I would have spent 100s if they made a store anywhere else, I have my reasons. Send me a PM with download link and paypal chit I will be all in . Yearly Rant. 20 years ago I envisioned a much different sim future. Modders and Painters C P. That simple, a worldwide registered affiliated organization that pays it's taxes and has a charter of ethics for all with all due process. Made by the people for the people. So abide by rules, get official stamp of approval for your content or you and your rips / sub standard content go elsewhere. Shop in confidence knowing the organization greenlights all content and pays it's dues. Everyone would pay yearly dues like any other registered club I have joined. Teams and content providers from every moddable sim ( planes, trains and automobiles) would have their private space. Real-time sandbox for individuals. Beta testing and servers. Free and paid content. Free real-time class for painting helmets, whatever. Real-time lessons and diploma courses, talented modders and painters would make extra income, become teachers. Ultimately a University with database that never ends. Long term think tank to develop inhouse engine and sim. 100,000 + members would not be out of realms of possibility long term........... Cha Ching ! Yeah, pipe dream.
I have been smoking with you, specially since I have a strong feeling that AC Evo will end up having in its timeline some destructive outcome for AC's modding (they can claim that brands are unhappy with AC's lax environment, blah, blah...). But even if that does not happen, rFactor 2 will continue to be the best modding platform and, given that, at the top of its game, visually it can still square up well (only the saturation addicts think otherwise) and physics wise is still king*, PARTICULARLY if the 2017/18 TGM tyres are given their appropriate destination, the "Bin" and completely ignored by the modding community. *outside the the hybrid fancy-pansy stuff that, as Nicola said, in the end, it's not realistic to have simulated, particularly at the amateur level. But within the vein of pipe-dreams and its variations, I believe that, soon, Easter might lay a nice egg...
