    @Will Mazeo , good proposal. :)

Just a note about the .gbd file...

The .rfm overrides in the .gdb should be empty for most tracks...

Override/force values in the .gdb file should only be filled in if the default .rfm values don't work.

Like pitspeed for a karting track for example.

overriding .rfm values in the .gdb is not necessary on 90% of the normal tracks.
Most track modders and even ISI did this... :(

With the result that most leagues edit .gdb and remove these override/force values and repack the track. So these values can be controlled with the RaceEvents(Server mod) .rfm file, like it should.

Hopefully S397 won't force to much in the .gdb @hexagramme. :)

Pitspeed, formationlap speed, safety car available, etc... depend in most casses on the race serrie you want to simulate.

So basicly your request to edit .gdb values shouldn't be necessary, if all modders/track creators leave this open to adjust...

It should be an option in case you want to use specific stuff for a track
    ( ) Use series settings
( ) Use specific settings for this track

And btw in this idea no original file of a car or track is edited. Everything is an add on and forced by the server (in case of online race). How it will be done I don't know and I don't care, as I said other times: the complicated stuff needs to stay on modders and S397 hands, the average user should just have to plug and play be it to drive or to host a online race

In US championships for example, the pit speed limit changes from track to track. Sometimes you just have to define stuff in the gdb (unless there's a new solution for it I'm not aware of).

Race Events... Yeah i saw that in the launcher installer. Saw bunch of them at the bottom. Is that something you can do from the in game menu? And are they like Assetto Corsa's "challenges"? Like a pre-made race click and go?

Sorry for hijacking with this question. :)

This is because there is a pitspeed limit forced in the .gdb file.
No, you don't have to define .rfm override values in the .gdb file. You can leave these empty.
Not a new solution, but the normal workflow is that the pitspeed is defined in the .rfm file of your race serie.

Unless something track specific needs to be forced for your track, you can override the .rfm values in the .gdb.
Forcing things in the .gdb happens to much unfortunately.

That was the point of my post. In real life the pit speed changes from track to track within the same championship (in NASCAR and CART/IndyCar anyway).

In my case I have never edited the rfm file. If I need to change speed limit, drs... I edit gdb file and make a small incremental update which I include in the vmod and make it transparent for our league drivers.

Yes, exactly something like this! I get that some things need to be more complicated in order to have better functionality, but this part is not one of those things.

A race series (vmod) is required for online but can be used offline as well. It works like a filtered selection of cars and tracks. It avoids that someone is using a different car or a different version of the expected one.

Offline, it makes easier to do a proper selection of opponents. Since you can directly specify which cars are available from the selected vehicle components when creating the vmod.

I just posted a link to a video tutorial in my previous post.

You can change the safety car by editting the .rfm file and choose a .veh. You can basically use any car ingame as safety car.

But you need to create a new RaceEvent with your adjusted .rfm file.

Take your time to read and understand what's in the default.rfm.

    No difference that I know.
The problem is the terminology which can get confusing, especiallly for newbies
