It has a smooth mesh and all the rf2 features, it was released on this forum about 18months ago by Spidey I believe, AI is terrible and by today's standards it looks like crap. I ran in a league last month with 40 participants without issue.
Yes, sadly new AIW is not yet implemented (or is there another source?) magicaldog if you want it for offline, PM me.
I'm going to release a version of the Brands I was working on with peterchen updated AIW and some texture work, etc. soon. I still do not know how to smooth the road mesh, though. ~spidey
About the mesh, I have driven on a lot worse, I don't find it particular bumpy in a sense that it spoils the drive, but I suppose a lot of that is dependant on what wheel we all use.
I thought that there was a good version out there that only needed AI improvement. If so then why not fix that AI instead of moving the problems around?
As far as I know there is no "legal" version of Brands Hatch available for rF2 they are all taken from other sims
I agree with Magicaldog on the Brands Hatch being mandatory for every sim. The version I have has the very old loading screen. It is the nasty kind with the 1 big picture that was made for whatever resolution the maker used. Some of the barriers can be driven through and that sucks. Driving off the track into these barriers will result in that lap not counting, that is awesome. It does have real road. I do wish there was an official (on the download page) version of this track, both Indy and GP.
What I wonder is ! Haven't ISI any interest in putting the best tracks in their sim ? Kunos seems to get it ? Or are ISI relying on the mod community ? Laser scanned tracks FTW
Define best tracks? You mean the cliche ones we have seen over and over and over? There are plenty more tracks in the world to try.
Means it's not worth or even possible for ISI to pay hundreds of thousands euro to Nordschleife owner to get track license.
I thought ISI was a wealthier and a bigger company than Kunos ? How do you know that they have to pay that amount of cash anyway ?
Tim has said in the past some licenses are out of reach for ISI due to their asking price. It wouldnt' surprise me at all if Brands is in that category since I'm sure they did get big money from some big time developers. AFAIK ISI and Kunos aren't publicly traded companies so it's hard to say who is the bigger company or who has the biggest debt etc. You can only guess.
That's what they did with rFactor (offering a title to be molded by what the community wanted) and the idea for rFactor2 as well. It's just we haven't had the modder support like before, a huge chunk of the work force moved to Assetto, some quit, some went pro full-time.
