Been away: so much headache to get the game running.

Hi guys,

I've been away for a long time from the game and about a year ago (I think it was) I tried again. Had some trouble with FFB and VR as the wheel was not really working properly and VR kept freezing when I altered a setting.

Now, back again and now I can't even get my wheel configured. Haven't started on VR yet as that has no use.
But reading some topics here on the forums like the game is left alone by the makers and that kind of stuff: is that true?
Because in the past, from the very first beginning, rF2 always was a "you have to get into .json file X and do that so you can play it properly" game.
Now I'm just wondering if I missed (a lot) of these things or if it is just a matter of "dying" of the game and I should not expect it to get better anymore?

There was a minor patch last year, so since maybe 2023 the changes are some AI changes for the worse (reportedly, but I'd trust the offliners), and broken FFB in devmode. Have to use the previous build for devmode.

Other than that, same as it was. I installed the game on a new PC late last year, didn't have to touch any .json files as far as I remember. I did have to reassign some controls when I powered things on differently and it got the device IDs mixed up, but nothing new there.

Thanks guys!
I had been busy with it, found the problem, but just now found the time to write about it.
It's good to see rF2 is not at fault and it is not that much downhill as I was afraid of.

Indeed, the player folder. I installed rF2 again but meanwhile, my ssd was new too.
This game does (like PC2) save stuff in Steam, you can use that option in 'properties'; it was "on" and thus: whole game started to act up on all sides, wouldn't even start anymore!
So I switched that option "off" and deleted some .json files like player and controller.
Now all works fine, haven't had the time to actually drive it, but I can start and I can configure; should be okay now.

That Steam option sucks btw: in PC2 I had problems too, AMS2 for instance not, but that one doesn't have that option.
So it does more harm than good I would say.

Thank again guys!

Oh ISIMotor has broken AI
All the rest are perfect.
It is the other way around ! Pete's Sake.
I have done 6+ hour races ( all I could save )
You can drive around almost any issue.
Best thing is with ISIMotor AI every race is different, no two are ever the same

Other sims is like driving a replay  No soul No nothing.

Thanks for not understanding what I was referring to at all, and doing your usual rant.

You forgot to mention Gjon this time, you’re slipping.

Well, I do have some findings, but I better be quite as I have been away for so long and didn't really use the game all that long yesterday.

Anyway, there are a few things I noticed that are weird and I do want to comment about:
- the graphics settings in VR, you can change but clicking 'save' and moving your head: the system freezes. If not freeze, you should get out/into the game anyway because the image will be messed up when you get into the car.
- It seems like all the stuff 'they' are selling, is being installed in the game no matter what: I did not sign up or collected it in my library, but they are all there in my game with a shopping cart and a + sign behind it, greyed out.
That should be no problem, but all those cars (maybe tracks too, I haven't looked at it) ARE installed; they are in the content as .MAS files, taking up some proper space (0,4 up to almost 1 Gb) and that is something I do not like.

Gameplay itself; as I said, nothing to comment yet :)

Go to the in game content manager and uninstall any of them you don't want installed.
