Back when every car was different

in the early 70's you had all sorts of innovation in autosport. I would have been 15 for the 1972 Indy 500. Growing up in an isolated small town near the Canadian border in Washington State. I got almost no live racing news or coverage. Instead I depended upon the library and it's two or three Car Magazines that sometimes covered auto sport, so by August I would be caught with the May Indy 500. Because those magazines would feature unique cars, I too found my eye would gravitate to the unconventional.
The Winged Chaparrals, the STP Turbines, The Aero Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbirds of Nascar. One car that always facinated me...even though it was mostly a dawg....was the Vels-Parnelli VPJ-01. A car with diheadral wings & integrated suspension pieces

And now for something completely different. No transmission, no brake torque, 4 wheel drive. Helicopter engine.
yup....
