I'm just wondering how I ever drove with a monitor before I got VR

I've driven a few laps so far now, nothing too extensive but it feels pretty darn good to me. The ffb is very nice and informative. Even though I'm a bit short on the "recommended" specs, I have everything on high and I'm getting fairly decent framerates.
I give it 4 out of 5. I would definitely recommend especially since you can get it now for 44% off the price of the full game (when released) and the 2019 cars as a free dlc next Summer.

Lol, I see your point, but what I mean is that users in this forum are more likely to be looking for the same characteristics in a sim as me so their opinions will be more valuable than RD reviews

I'm in exactly the same boat, this is hideous and incredibly hard not to mention bloody awful!
I shall persevere though as so far ACC is decent, the graphics are very nice and I get a decent frame rate with AI on track. Wet Weather at night is good and the effects are very good especially the lighting of the cockpit (can't wait to see that in VR!). UI is OK I guess but I've never been bothered by what a UI does more of what the driving on track feels like, that is where it currently falls a bit flat & numb but there may be an issue with T500 wheels according to the official forums so hoping my T300 is related to that somehow.
In the meantime yeah ACC is off to a fairly food start in EA, lots of work to do as expected so if you're not fussed by the 1 track 1 car combo then grab it now but if you yearn for more then wait a little while longer. I hate this track too, the layout is dreadful IMO.
I'll come back at a later date with more proven thoughts after more hellish flat screen play time!

After restart of game and additional assignment of shift paddles it works now.
UI i think is "so so", it's ok but nothing special.
Did a practice session wit cloudy sky, looks really nice with options almost maxed out, but pretty low framerate (around 40).
Car felt also not bad, with performance setup quiet a bit of overrotation midcorner, but should be solvable.
Really like the sound, reverb is cool.

20 minutes configuring controls & how to start the cars engine. 3 laps of driving and I shut it down. The ffb on my T300 told me nothing of what the car was doing.
Thought about a refund but I'll wait for a few updates as I've read other thrustmaster owners reporting the same lack of feel.

Unrelated to acc but I have just come back off holiday and windows ten updated, my t300 feels weird in rf2 now, like ffb is reversed or something, it like it’s just on or off ffb when there’s grip nothing in between
Could this be related to thrustmaster wheels feeling weird in acc

My opinion is that it is a bargain for the initial price. Totally worth it regardless.
Some initial impressions from the UE4 I have:
The photorealistic games we have with UE4 are static with baked global illumination.
The engine does not have any solution for global illumination with day night cycle. So ACC will not look great compared to console games unless the developer add tricks of their own like some AAA games do.
Thats a disappointment with the engine because in that regard the visuals are inferior to even PS3 titles that have fully dynamic weather and day transition.
Those titles run on 60FPS even on the PS4. Also those fancy photorealistic materials we see in those games are the work of the developer.
UE4 also does not support MSAA. So it is either TAA or you have to use the more expensive options. I wonder if ACC will use some of those custom renderers for VR so they can get better AA at the cost of the things UE4 offers normally.
