Just to return to the OP: you started one game expecting another? That's a self-fulfilling prophecy. I'll play AMS2 when I'm in the mood for that sort of game. There's nothing wrong with having a selection, and there's a whole bunch of people who don't want to play rF2 (even without bugs etc). It's just not their thing.
For years I have been saying I will jump in to AMS2, because I thinks AMS1 is great and their pack for rF2 is wonderful. And I still haven't. Was too busy anyways. But also I have not seen any realistic videos from AMS2 yet. From the very beginning it was clear that their aim is to catch the perfect sim angle of balance what is realistic and what is most favored by general simracing playerbase.
Well imho if LMU is a clone of rFactor 2. Then AMS 2 is nothing more then a clone of pCars shrugs Merry Christmas.
That doesn't have Code: # Madness bug madness # # Create many vars here so the madness bug will hit that. # (madness_bug1 1.0) (madness_bug2 1.0) . . . whatever that is
1.6, Has better tire physics, under and just above the limit, but can be strange on some cars when over the limit i've found. The very best thing about the update is definately the work on the A.I. and the presets. I had an amazing multiclass race with the A.I. at Sebring last night, and the graphics improvements are V good, really is a damn fine looking sim now!
I disagree about the AI, in general I find the AI to be crap. Some cars are OK and others absolutely awful, there's no consistency between the cars, the worst aspect is severe rubber banding. All my racing is done off line with the various sims.
I've been driving in Low Fuel Motorsport rookie sessions in AMS2 the past two weeks. Apart from the lack of driver quality in LFM rookie races (50% don't complete all laps and at least 2/3 go off the track due to their own driving or being tapped from behind), there are definitely some annoyances in AMS2 multiplayer. Can't record a replay unless you stay to the end of the session, when you finally get the option to click a button marked "Save Replay". Saving replays is essential on LFM if you wish to report a driver for being an absolute idiot in the first lap, so it's annoying to sit there for 20 minutes waiting for the end of the session if you were knocked out on the first lap through no fault of your own. Can only turn on the virtual mirror with a full HUD. It doesn't turn on/off independent of changing the HUD. The virtual mirror is essential to ensure you're not about to be rammed by a rookie in multiplayer. No telemetry in the replays, not even pedal positions (or at least I haven't found how to turn it on). Partial rolling starts are a lag fest, with cars falling out of the sky. The player driver doesn't experience the drop, but, wow it is a distracting sight! Ghost images of abandoned cars sometimes appear. So far it's only happened once, where a car parked outside a turn turned into a ghost. I never determined whether it was abandoned or if the game ghosted it because it stopped moving for too many laps. Pits are like iRacing, where the cars are not solid. My opinion is this feeds poor driver skills and treating it more like a video game where there are no consequences for unrealistic practices. No lap time report other than fastest lap. Not important for LFM races because they log the race laps. On the positive side, the LFM servers have worked well and I've had no poor connections. Occasionally you will see minor player warping, but nothing that would cause major car contact. I do see a couple players miss the scheduled join and it's not clear if they failed in their attempt or if they just forgot to join in the 2-3 minute window.
