I don't know what they'll do for the rFactor2 beta (if anything) but AMD is supposedly releasing new Catalyst 12.11 drivers later today with a significant performance boost (with certain games of course). http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/Catalyst_12.11_Performance/1.html http://www.anandtech.com/show/6393/amds-holiday-plans-cat1211-new-bundle http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_catalyst_12_11_driver_performance,1.htm I'll be testing them with a 7970 on a fresh Windows 7 64 install to see how they do with rFactor2 and a few other racing titles.
I see where you were thinking on the version numbers, heheh, I am sure many have made the same mistake
Yeah, thx Gearjammer i felt stupid there for a while hehe, but i never seen any other software-release use that format, or never thought about it atleast
I gave the Catalyst 12.11 beta 4 a try last night with a fresh install of rFactor2 118 on a clean Windows 7 64 OS and AMD 7970. Just like I’ve seen in the past with rFactor2 the performance is very good but the image quality is crap. As usual if you force super-sampling AA to clean up the image quality (transparency texture shimmer) the performance tanks bad enough that it’s unusable. The only racing titles that I run that the 7970 is any good with are from CodeMasters (Dirt3, F12011,2012). Oh well back to my GTX 680 and the new 310.33 drivers.
The Catalyst 12.10’s are pretty much identical to the beta 12.9’s which also didn’t do anything to improve performance or image quality with games that use older DirectX 9 rendering engines like rFactor2.
