AI-based Virtual Race Engineer incl. Pitstop Handling

Todays release contains several important fixes. Of course, there is some new stuff as well.

1. The Spotter now gives you the delta to your own lap time, when he informs about current lap times of other cars.
2. The tyre temperature related compound recommendation for the next pitstop by the Engineer got much better.
3. And we have updated the car meta data for RaceRoom Racing Experience to the latest version.

Release 5.9.4 comes with another bunch of improvements for the latest addition of lap telemetry analysis features. You now can define your own layouts for the telemetry viewer and you can decide which telemetry channels should be displayed. An importer for MoTeC data is also part of the package.

Beside that, RaceRoom Racing Experience again got a lot of love. For example, all Simulator Controller apps now can handle sessions correctly where cars with a race number of "0" are present (weird, isn't it, but R3E allows that).

Todays release will be the last feature release until December, where we will hopefully see a really incredible new feature for the 4th anniversary of Simulator Controller. Stay tuned...

Another intermezzo release while we are working on the next big thing for the anniversary release. Nevertheless, the Engineer got two new voice commands to control handling of tyre pressure loss during pitstop. And documentation for voice commands for all supported languages has been finally added. The details can be found in the release notes, as always.

Although it is still a week to go for the 4th anniversary and the official release of the new Driving Coach, I will open the beta version to the public today. A small team has been testing it throughout the last two weeks and it looks already fully stable.

The 6.0.0 brings a stunning extension to the Driving Coach, which is now able to work with you on your driving techniques directly on the track. To do this, the Coach has a full understanding of telemetry data and can compare your performance against a reference lap of you or one of your team mates, or even against a lap of a different source. Here is a recording of a typical training session (incl. jump marks):

Four years of Simulator Controller - what a ride. And as in every year, I am happy to release a great new feature for Simulator Controller to celebrate the anniversary. This time we have, as all of you already know, a new AI which is capable to work with you on your driving skills on the track. When I released the original Driving Coach a year ago, I always had a functionality like this in mind, but I needed several months to figure out how to do it properly. There is so much data crunching involved and a GPT model is not really good at that. But I don't want to bother you with technical details. Important is, the I didn't want just a tool which tells you "Brake later" or "Accelerate earlier" here and there, but I wanted "someone" that can discuss all the ins and outs of your track performance with you - on the track and after a session. I think, I have delivered, but judge it by yourself.

Release 6.0 is ready for download!

After having released the new on-track coaching with the last version, I will add some additional functionality today and probably also with the following releases. The most important addition today is the capability of the Driving Coach to provide some basic coaching even if no LLM has been configured yet. Since this will be the case for most new users, this will reduce the number of configuration steps required for an initial experience.

Beside that we have several optimizations in the UI and the telemetry importer has been optimized. See the Release Notes for details here.

Version 6.0.2 now supports automatic detection of track sections. Using this the Driving Coach can finally provide on-track coaching without additional preparations. Automatically created track sections may not be perfect, so take your time and fine-tune them if required.

Additionally, hotlap and time trial sessions are now supported for all simulators, which provide them. For more smaller additions and changes see the Release Notes for more information.

This is the first release of the new year and it is huge. The most important addition is for sure the full support for strategy and pitstop handling for Le Mans Ultimate. But also rFactor 2, iRacing and even RaceRoom Racing Experience got some love, since it is now possible, to control the selected tyre compound and whether the tyre should be changed at all for individual tyres at the upcoming pitstop. The Release Notes contain detailed information about all that.

Main feature of todays release is the added support for loading, editing and writing of setup files by the "Setup Workbench" AI for Le Mans Ultimate and also for rFactor 2. This has been around for some time for AC and ACC, but is now also supported for LMU and rF2. All current car models for Le Mans Ultimate are already included, but for rFactor 2 no car meta data is included yet.

IMPORTANT: Call for contribution

I will not have the time to create the meta for all the different cars of rFactor 2, since is is actually quite a big number of cars. If someone wants to contribute by defining the meta data for some cars, you are more then welcome. Let me know and I will give you some instructions and examples.

Many small improvements and fixes for allmost all simulators are part of yesterdays release. Most important is the support for a full weather forecast in Le Mans Ultimate. And we have the first car meta data for the support of rFactor 2 in "Setup Workbench".

Major feature for todays release: You no longer have to create a strategy in advance for short (sprint) races with some required pitstops. Instead, supply the race rules in "Race Settings" and the Strategist will create a strategy on the fly.

IMPORTANT for AMS2 users: The pitstop request is no longer done automatically after the Enginerr planned an prepared a pitstop, since this can lead to confusion, if done more than once. There is a setting in the "Session Database" to restore the previous behaviour.

You can use any model with Simulator Controller, since several service providers are supported. Running on your local machine requires a decent PC, though. But you can use Ollama for that which also supports R1.

For using R1, you must tweak the instructions for the model a bit, since R1 always preceeds the real answer with some insights its internal chain of thoughts - enclosed in <think> </think>. But you can ask the model to supress that using the Character instruction.
 
Main feature for this Release: The Driving Coach can now give you immediate feedback once you have passed a corner and the following section. The feedback will include a detailed comparison of your performance compared to the previous lap incl. hints where you can still improve. See the following video for a very short demonstration:


Beside that the new rule-based strategy handling introduced with the last release got tweaked a bit. Also we have fixed the iRacing track mapping, which is also required for the Driving Coach and the list of rFactor 2 GT3 cars supported by the "Setup Workbench" is now complete.
