Entre hoy y el domingo veremos muchos vídeos de AC evo en acción, ¿qué opinan los gurús del foro sobre la física?
@mantasisg
Sorry for not knowing spanish, had to translate lol First of all, I am not physics guru of this forum, I am physics guru of whole simracing.
I wish.
What can I say, first of all I really like how they are planning to deal with modding. For that reason I hope ACE will blow AC1 away.
What I think about physics ? I think it will blow AC away. It looks like it from footage. It would be much easier to judge if there was sound, but it is still a lot of visual information. However, it doesn't look like it will be super highlevel realism sim from these videos. It will be high realism sim it looks like. Somewhere close to where AC1 is. Obviously it has rain. Wet driving looks alright but nothing impressive to me. I think Kunos way of physics simulation is to have as realistic as possible simulation while having it least annoying as possible. Thats ends up being good simulation that is just little bit polished around rough edges that are not perceived as :fun: by majority. It is actually apparent from video already. You'd expect seeing people pushing cars on wet to have some twitchy moments, to experience these little sharp tire gripping/slipping/gripping moments. But you can't see that, at least I haven't noticed a hint of it. It might end up as being nice for people and they might actually love racing in rain, however these milky soft uneventful slides are also in a way annoying in terms of how unexciting they are, but slides like that does happen IRL in wet, but you'd really expect to see lots of twitching, not necessarily terrible uncontrolable, but you'd want to see car beign nervous in wet on the limits.
There are a lot of graphical issues, I hope they won't be there in three months.
This is just AC and not even the best moding example
It's probably not possible to comment on the realism of the physics engine just by watching a few videos in my opinion.
Definitely possible. But of course, can't call it super exact. I thin kdepending on knowledge and observation skills, some people can't comment even through driving themselves. And almost nobody will be able to make clear judgement after driving only for couple minutes for first time and doing it in not very subtle way.
The problems of judging through videos might be lack of sound. The latency of monitor captured in video. The drivers might just not be very good, it takes good driver to drive car realistically, and not only that, he also needs to be used to sim. Some great drivers in sim don't have proper sense of speed and keeps crashing. Some worse drivers, although experienced simracers might just not be driving the right way and thus not experiencing what is offered.
Last but not least, developers can alter the way they aim for their physics to be perceived later towards early access, or even during early access. And all of that happened with ACC.
I personally think it is probably 10x more difficult to try and hit physics that are optimally loved by as many people as there can be, than just aiming and doing proper serious realistic physics. Everytime there will be bunch of unhappy people. And IMo if ACE is going to be similar to ACE and not aiming for higher levels of physics that rF2 and iRacing are offering, while trying to be least annoying possible but still realistic, then good luck for them, it should be a hit racign game IMO And there will be many people raving about how it is going to be best simulation there is, but it is not really going to be that.
