I would like the 2 car and track choice screens to be filterable, not like today by a text field that we cannot fill in VR. I want you to be able to choose different pre-established filters, which have cumulative effects, and in a visually pleasant and ergonomic way. Here are some filter examples : - Official car S397 (since 2016) - Car DLC specifically - Modded car - Official DLC modding car (Kartsim, Reiza....) - FWD car - RWD car - AWD or 4WD car - Push to Pass / DRS -GT - Touring car - Proto - Single-seater - Low performance car - Manual transmission -Sequential transmission - All judicious possibilities are welcome. Same for circuits, just a few examples: - Continent - Number of turns greater than X - Up to 3km - Between 3 and 7 km - Greater than 7 km - Official track S397 - Modded circuit - Etc.
Seems like it is totally possible to build those filters by making your own RaceEvent packages. See Steam Community :: Guide :: rFactor 2 Quick Guide: Creating Custom RaceEvents
Thanks for the response Emery. Nevertheless I think it would be incredibly beneficial for the UI of rFactor 2 and for the image that new and old users of rFactor 2 would have. So I mean a filter system integrated into the UI in a logical way /ergonomic/visually pleasing. We'll see, but maybe this idea will be taken up by S397, that would be cool!
I honestly think this is a must. I will often download a mod and then really struggle to find it once I'm in game, as it's not always called the name which is shown on steam. I also have the mod version and the official verson of many tracks now, and I struggle to know which one is which! It's not such a big deal when you're not subscribed to much content, but once you have endless mods and DLC installed it becomes a bit of a nightmare to navigate and keep track of everything. Some filters that I would like: - Recently downloaded - Latest up to date tyre model - Favorites
The hazard is, of course, people who create mods may not classify things the same way you would like. For instance, "latest up to date tyre model"... well it was up-to-date when I posted the mod 7 years ago.
That was my first thought as well. A mod maker can use the tag Latest Up to Date Tire. And it would be accurate until the tire actually was improved. Then what? The tire file would no longer be the latest version but if the mod creator did not alter the tag, users would be led down the wrong alley. Don't expect S397 to keep track of 3rd party projects either...have you seen those tarps on the car selection menus?
I was thinking more about official content in regards to the tyre model filter. I guess it's a hard one to implement also because each 'new' tyre is really just a small progression rather than actually being something totally new, so it would be hard to make the divide between new and old.
