A big change in VR, going from 5800x3D to 9800x3D

2 days a go upgraded, as the title says. I have a rtx4080S and a HP G2.

So, now i can play, as used to (100% resolution in openxr Tools, using opencomposite).
But the difference is that now, have everything at max setting, and MSAA 4x.

Tried with 28 cars and 18 visible, in Nurburgring, and i had still 19%-21% in the pits, and 31-37% of margin at the track.
I´m very happy with the change.
Note: Mistake mine, My resolution 3417*3347(Can only see it, in the menu of OpenXR, while in the game). IT´s amazing good in RF2, even´t tested in AMS2, but i use the same resolution)

Every time I read about the performance of the Amd x3d cpu it sounds excellent and I think about changing from my Intel, but then the next day I will read about a user having usb issues and I lose my enthusiasm.
Really torn about my next upgrade.

I've been on a 5800x3d for years and now a 9800x3d and I've never had any USB issues with any of my racing peripherals or my Index. The CPU is exceptional []~}

Like me, no USB problems ever. I have 16 USb´s devices connected, i have all that i need connected, but i´m using an usb 3.1 HUB with 16 ports.

I've been on Intel systems for a long time but, this time around I went AMD due to the poor reviews for the new Intel chips.
So far, I'm very impressed with performance (Ryzen 9 9750x3d). AMD offers more CPU upgrade options (per platform) too. Graphics performance (VR too) has never been better (without a GPU upgrade).

I can't say I've had any usb issues with this system. Only oddity I found was with Nvidia Surround, it no longer works on this system no matter what I do. I found that I can play just about any title I want with triple-monitors without surround anyway.

All the above are encouraging, we all use so many usb devices especially in sim racing, hard choice in the short term future.
I am currently using a i5 13600k, just upgraded to a 5080 and am in cpu limited in Racerooms, other sim including Rf2 are OK.

I bought a 7800x3d system and used every usb port on it until I got a hub (almost could have gone without, but really needed at least one more port…). Had no issues with any devices.

I heard of some issue but did no research; I guess it’s some specific chipsets or some such?

I have at least 6 USB hubs connected to my system (most ports occupied) between my Sim-gear and work-related stuff.

BTW: May I ask how you managed to snag the 5080?

I waiting for next gen to drop into B650  ..god willing.
  • Zen 6: AMD's next-generation Zen 6 Ryzen CPUs, codenamed "Medusa," are expected to launch in late 2026 or early 2027.
  • AM5 Socket Compatibility: AMD plans to maintain compatibility with existing AM5 motherboards for Zen 6.

Same here
Hubs are not made equal ;)

I would recommend this to anyone, flawless sim/app performance.
90 watts is key ;) Had this for years never had an issue.
I run leads to rig that are 4M long, no problems.

Of course you will take a hit in transfer rates when copying files through 2 drives but other then that it's smooth sailing.

This allows me to swap between my everyday / lite gaming tower and my rig tower in seconds.
Never move or disturb cables again and between both towers only 1 USB cable is ever needed

TIP: When you swap between 2 towers use the same USB slot on both towers and never touch the 16 cables again.

Another Con is you won't wear motherboard USB ports with drooping bunches of cables.
Also this has individual port switches which are light to touch and positive clicks.
When I use sim rig I switch first 7 ports on, done that for years 1000 times and buttons still feel like new.

The thing I on lookout for is a Hub with dual output and switch

P.S. I needed 7 cables to run to rig drilled hole in table :)
Also colour coded both ends of every rig cable with electrical tape.

Funny, you have the same Hub as I.
Just to say that.
