Did these first very tall wings improve aerodynamics much back then? They sure look beautiful, but when I drive them they don´t seem to improve from the same car without them. Not talking about the mod itself but historically.
The elevated wings were often attached directly to the Suspension. Thus the cars could still run softer springs but get downforce directly applied to the tires. After 1969 the FIA banned elevated wings, movable wings, & suspension mounting. This brought on the ever increasing curse of incredibly stiff springs, especially during the Ground Effects era.
Not an aerodynamicist but just my thoughts. Mod: The mod doesn't have any physic changes, at least when I last looked when I was painting the 1975 F5000 mod. The Upgrades.ini doesn't reference any physics changes. So driving with or with out wings will be no difference. Real life: The wings would have made a difference. I'm not sure of the lift to drag numbers of how much things will affect top speed or the actual amount of downforce is created. One thing to note is that there was no rules at the time for where the wings attached to. The high wings were attached directly to the wheels. The suspension does not counter acting against the wings like when it is connected to the body.
A year of so back, I had a private discussion about mounting wings onto the suspension, someone said it was possible, but I wonder if that meant you could direct the downforceforce only to a vertical plane of the suspension or actually have it act upon the wheels themselves.
here is a first Demo...... Thanks to Nicola59 for the Physic and svictor for help with the Upgrade File https://workupload.com/file/F2LKkwHtMhk
here are some Skins, you must go to the Showroom and create a Skin Folder, the Skin Folder is then in rfactor2/UserData/Player/Settings/F160sStyle/Player_60, you must put the Files from this Download in the Player_60 Folder https://workupload.com/file/sPKLqm8T5Hp
