    Might it be an option to use the upgrades for different mirrors? The side mirrors for online racing and the more realistic incar rear mirror for the historic nerds? However you decide, keep up with your good work. :)

    I would just use the inside mirror, rather be as realistic as possible

    I want to know why he's looking at his helmet in the rear mirror and not the cars behind him... ... .... ..... ...........

    Technically, he would be looking at the camera from his point of view. ;)
    Ive always said that mirrors are shifty bastards, and not to be trusted... :p

    Given how it's Laguna, he's likely got it shifted to cover a more difficult area to see. It's also the side where people would drive by for passing. The original car only had that mirror, nothing outside. The outside mirrors can be a tuning option to somewhat preserve historical accuracy, the internal mirror will also be developed.

    Actually, the camera is placed in such a way that it's blocking what would otherwise be the clear view backward between the rear spoiler/wings.

    The 917's almost always used the inside mirror only, but the front fender mirror (only on the right front fender) dates back to 1969 where cars 10, 12, and 14 all ran them at Le Mans.

    as the guy who placed the camera, nope. it was to the left of the rear window and not blocking anything

    I assumed it was pointed correctly, just making fun of the angle of the shot which let US see the helmet, not what the driver would actually be seeing. <I should find some sort of IRONY or SARCASM emoji for most of my posts > :)

    Well, you would know. I should have said "if the mirror is angled as it normally would be" then the camera is blocking the view behind...

    ...but at this point I'll speculate: 1) the camera IS angled as for normal use;
    2) if the camera is off to the left then this shot is probably not representative of the drivers typical head position (on straights), but his eyes show up momentarily centered because he's leaning left at the neck while cornering left;
    3) it's a relatively moot issue anyway because in all likelihood the camera is small enough it isn't wouldn't block much of anything even if it WERE down the rear-view line.

    I'll guess further that this 917 might be the one restored by Gunnar Racing? Hard to tell if that's white or light blue paint out there...

    I wish all the cars felt as good as this car.

    I can easily tell when it is about to let go and can really feel the speed and all the dipps.

    Best car I've ever driven.

    Possibly a touch too saturated, too red? Love the shape!
