10 reasons why rFactor 2 is a great racing sim

    I need each of you to post your 10 reasons why rFactor 2 is a great racing sim.

    You can list whatever you like, and it will be your personal opinion. Don't hold back.
    Be it the physics, the graphics, Real Road, the yellow flowers along the country roads of Spa... Doesn't matter!
    Anything that comes to mind.

    The order in which you list those ten reasons doesn't matter too much.
    I just need ten reasons from each of you.

    Why all this, you may ask. Well...
    I am cooking up a little surprise, which will hopefully materialize within the next few months.
    A top ten reasons list will help this little surprise project along very nicely.

    I hope you'll help me out! Thanks a bunch in advance. :)

    1. Its made by ISI
    2. Unrivalled FFB/Physics/Tyre Model/Flat spotting
    3. Atmosphere generated by trackside objects, animations etc
    4. Mods 101 gig to date ( not all great )
    5. Dynamic Weather. Day/Night transition, I mean actual star constellations in the right place in the sky.. come on !!!
    6. Gerald Jacobsons Spotter :)
    7. League Championships available with everything from sprint reverse grid to 24hr endurance racing
    8. Real Road is actually Dynamic, not some hyped up graphical preset ;-) Marbles
    9. Flag rules/race sessions/pit stops done properly
    10. Nice family feel to the community here ( mostly )

    I could also List 10 reasons why rf2 is not so great, or what we still need to make it perfect but overall it is very close to 10/10

    Tire model, FFB, RR, dynamic environment and more good cars than time to enjoy them. Those are my top five.

    1) tire model and physics engine
    2) dynamic environment
    3) "eye realistic" graphics (in opposition to "photo realistic", which turns often in video games in "beautiful, but over emphasized graphics")
    4) solid multiplayer
    5) continuos development (this has few drawbacks, but overall is a great thing)
    6) set of rules (this will be widened in future, but yet now is good)
    7) no hype by the developers (but i would like to see few "tech for dummies" articles in rFactor.net explaining details of the technology)
    8) good level of online racing (no wreckers, no kids, no "i will win in T1" people)
    9) good community
    10) yellow flowers along the country roads of Spa :)

    1. The best AI
    2. Real Road
    3. The Historic content. (more please :) )
    4. The Feeling of driving a car rather than playing a game.
    5. The Tweakability
    6. Mods
    7. Dynamic Weather
    8. The very commited and helpful community.
    9. The graphics. Debatable I know. It may not look quite as good as other sims in screenshots, but when I'm actually driving, it feels so alive.
    10. Whatever surprises the future holds!

    The most important reason to me: I don't have to keep paying for it every month like iracing - and I can still use it when not paying!

    1- Mostly full weekend race rules with functioning flag and penalty system
    2- Diverse setup option
    3- The force feedback on most stock material conveys the car's movement very well (whether or not we feel more than we would from the steering itself in real life) and the progressive feel while cornering at speed is greatly conveyed
    4- Netcode
    5- Weather system and time progression
    6- The track surveying method and how it is translated to an accurate ingame layout
    7- Spa and Monaco 1966 made with very good fidelity, visuals aside
    8- AI
    9- Licenses acquired in the future to also be distributed without additional cost
    10- Dynamic realroad is cool

    ok hex ere we go.. my order of greatness.

    1)physics
    2)Great AI (close top with physics)
    3)flatspotting feedback
    4)realroad
    5)realism feeling
    6)car choice is varied across formulas.
    7)I actually like the visuals in HDR
    8)FFb good (could be better imo)
    9)Weather if it will ever work
    10)ISI honesty with pricing and not charging for DLC.

    ..can I mention the AI again, simply what ive been after all my sim career :)!!

    Just the little things needed to stitch everything together, things I know are coming because rf1 had some of them, sparks from the cars, pit crews, better damage, rain on windscreen, and so on.

    I can't think of anything that is "bad" sorry :confused:

    Like I do not consider say the online aspect " bad " others may.

    I mean if you ask me what is " bad" in another unamed sim....... :p

    Physics
    Chassis
    Tyres
    Road
    Night racing
    Weather
    AI
    Old style Packaging system
    Too many endless skin and track updates.
    Modded folder is too big, some skins are ginormous.

    :rolleyes: lol

    P.S.
    Folder size may sound like a small thing till it reaches 100GB, consider the price per 100GB for the very best SSD's

    Most have been added but ISI 's continuing evolution to the previous best sim rf1. Awesome and instills the feeling that in time rf3 will evolve as well.

    Very good point. One never gets that feeling of 'impending doom' where the developers might suddenly stop development and go 'this is as good as it's gonna get'. It feels like there is no end in sight, and that is very reassuring I think.
