Over the years I've noticed Mirror Adjustments do alter/corrupt in the player.json, I've often been caught out thinking a cars mirrors are broken...

Tip for VR users:
Lean forward and see what the cars name is on the label on the left :) (It's different car type to car type).
Not sure what or how WMR headsets set their IPD but with the Rift CV1 it's a manual slider, so there's no way SteamVR could interfere with that :)
Could be a setting, could be Steam having a 'wobble', usually closing and restarting steam kicks it into action.
I tend to go the other way and 1.100 - 1.200 with a low 59/60 IPD on the headset.
Although it still runs in the background it closes down the virtual space when a game is launched, i checked my ram usage on RF2 load and sure...

If you're experiencing AI issues with yellow flags/safety car then run the race with BLACK FLAGS ONLY in the options menu. You'll still see yellow...
