Please fix one thing at least s397 and thats the car list, we need gt3 categories etc not all just plonked into one list of cars. If anything screams unpolished it's stuff like this. I know this ui won't be a game changer in features but it certainly can tidy up these silly issues. And fixing it myself with a package system I don't understand, isn't the answer and won't be to any potential rf2 buyer.
I hope the search function applies not only to the vehicles but also to the routes. That would make a lot easier. The sometimes minutes scrolling, or looking in both lists is often something very annoying.
Sorry I dont want a search I want a structured categories of car classes. Like a normal sim would have rightly so.
Car category's are determined by the car themselves. Rfactor 1 and 2 have always sorted by manufacturer, I think you would have to start a petition to change that, and then get everyone to agree to follow that system.
That's why as different users use RF2 in different ways and it being a modding platform allowing users to have hundreds of pieces of content my wish is being able to set my own tags per content. I know I am getting repetitive. Maybe modder-defined-tags-only search will be enough for big majority of users (including me), we'll see but I think enabling user to personalize tags would be that nice little add-on for enjoyment of mod collectors.
Something like this? The problem I found is that the data in most mods is incomplete and messy. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place.
I guess this is the data (tags) that will be available for search/filter in new UI. What I would like to do ideally is for instance for Arrows A8 to define my own tags "classic" and "F1" or even "80's" and "turbo" so when I (as an non-serious player) want to have fun with some turbo F1 cars I type "turbo F1" in search bar and.. voila! It shows not just this car but whatever cars I assigned these two categories/tags to. I could even assign tag "difficult" and "low powered open wheeler" to let's say Formula Vee and Skip Barber but modders of course don't have to share my view. Sometimes I want to drive low powered open wheeler in RF2 but I am not exactly sure which one (not even sure which ones I have installed). Currently to examine all available options is a tedious task.
I think S397 cars should be sorted by class, not by brand. For mods, let's leave as today. For ISI, case by case.
the way it is now each car seems to be in it's own class, rather than grouped in a GT3 class for example. this makes the results a bit wierd and confuses Crew Chief. You can be told you are in 2nd, when in reality you are only 2nd of the make of car you are in. also it doesn't help the game when it picks your AI opponents. If you select all the GT3 cars, then the game thinks you have selected 9 different classes. If you add in some LMP's for multi class then thats 11 classes when there should only be 3. so the other day I wanted to do the race with the "classes" above...I was in LMP2 and for opponents I got 1 LMP2, 1 LMP3 and 47 GT3
yeah what a SIMPLE stupid answer. anyway other "SIMS" as you say have a decent car menu - so its nothing to do with being a game!! geez.
It sounds like some of you dont really know what you want. I have a background in data base design and often customers was completely unable to describe how they would like to search. They were only able to vaguely describe the wanted output - hehe at most Check this pic out of how Raceroom has offered 2 different search profiles for cars. 1 for Manufactures and 1 for car classes. Why make it more complicated than needed?
I find the system in Raceroom very good to find vehicles, vehicle classes and AI opponents. A similar selection menu I could well imagine in Rfactor2.
Sorting by GT3 Class would assume all those GT3s have the same BOP, especially if you've got some of the freeware ones.
