After searching trough this forum, I am confused! Does RF2 offer dynamic weather? Is it well implemented? Work in progress? Does it goes from dry to rain to dry, does the track dynamically get wet and dry again? It would be so nice with Le Mans just being available. What would a good setting mimicking 24 hours in an hour with rain and dry look like?
https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/weatherplugin.58614/ This uses real weather. There's also a random weather generator
Yes Depends on your variation of "well implemented", everyone expects differences in this regard so whilst it may be Good for some it might not be as Good for others, but it works and is useable so at least it's implemented. Yes as Aquaplaning is not in yet (I believe), not sure when it will be added though. Yes...it's Dynamic! I'd start the Race Dry then have some rain at 25% to 50% Distance then end the race at 75%-100% dry again, that should give you a nice dry-wet-dry scenario.
Thank you Marc, I tried this morning, set the weather to scripted, set the 5 weather slot, went to Spa for a 20 minutes race, but the weather stay constant as defined by the first script, what am I missing?
No, just race, I did not do any practice or qualifying, I am just testing Dynamic weather. I got it to work some how, got very short burst of rain, when I thought I had scripted for more rain. In the rain am I supposed to see spray? I get particules, like when AI cars are going off road, but no spray in rain. I could see the track was wet, as there was some strange mirror reflection on the road, but no spry.
Also this give you a good experience with realroad X1 or X2 : SCRIPTED With a realroad preset 1/ light cloudy rain 50% 2/ partially cloudy rain 50% 3/ mostly cloudy rain 50% 4/partially cloudy rain 50% 5/ Light cloudy rain 50%
with the realroad on X1, it takes time for the track to be wet, even more so that there are puddles, even more so that the track dries and that there is dry on the ideal trajectory. do not move away from realroad X1 or X2, otherwise it will not be realistic. Also, uses updated mods and cars (puddles, rain effects on the windshield and bodywork).
I am not sure of the translation of "spray" : if you are French, telll me in french what do you mean by "spray".
Of course. There are spray on rF2, but you have to wait according to the intensity of the rain as the road gets wet. The rain is more intense with mostly cloudy than light cloudy for example. You can put Realroad X1 (Realistic), X2, X5 .... Selects an updated track for rain effects (to see after a while the puddles, if the rain is strong enough), same for cars to see the drops on the windshield and bodywork. Select in the "special effects" graphics settings on ultra to have the best effects and "soft particles" on high (you will lose FPS).
Sounds great, is spa an updated track for rain, it should be a natural for it. What non dlc car would you recommend to have the updated rain effect? FPS is not an issue for me, I got a 1080ti.
Be careful not all the tracks are completely updated to the latest version so your experience with the weather can be varied, also recommend that you try and set the percentages of the weather you chose. I recommend this mod, I liked the experience with rain: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=587034279&searchtext=flatt+6
I did not realized, I thought Spa was original content, my mistake. I tried Silverstone, also prone to rain racing, there I could see the puddles. Thank you all for your help I have now a good idea of what racing in the rain with dynamic weather feels like in RF2.
