Hello. Is it possible to use rfcmp files from rFactor in rFactor2 or are they not working there? If I download this I can theoretically put it in the Packages folder and install in the launcher. Did not want to download and install anything now and maybe damage the existing installation.
You can put in rfcmp files manually and install, yes. They are all rF2 though, rF1 doesn't have package files.
@ChiefWiggum Regarding rFactor1, unfortunately, I can not have a say, since it never played. @Lazza Thank you. And racetracks and vehicles would have to be usable in rFactor2 ?
No. rfcmps consists of mas files. Mas files consists of gmts - 3D mesh and DDS/BMP/TGA - 2D texture file formats Those gmts are either rF1 or rF2-gmts, you can't put rF1-gmts into a mas-file and expect it to work in rF2. And vice versa.
I think we need to all back up and start again. Where did gmts and mas files come from @Bjørn ? If you have rfcmp files, they are for rF2 and can be installed in rF2. Bear in mind they might be old and won't look very nice, but they might also be recent content that just isn't on the workshop.
rFactor 1 does not use rfcmp files. They were designed for rFactor 2 only. So any rfcmp you will find was made for some version of rFactor 2.
On rfactrocentral.com there are files for download in the rFactor rfcmp section (example: Adria Raceway), which I can copy into my rFactor2 Packages folder and also install in the launcher. Have not tried though, if the track is loaded. Other files (for example, Ledenon) contain a GameData folder with subfolders. I am pretty sure that they can not be integrated into rFactor2.
