So I would ideally like to setup just a LAN only server, but have been trying to setup a normal online dedicated server to nail down the easier of the two first. Unfortunately I have followed all online steps from videos etc but my server will never show as online. I have sorted my port forwarding (54297, 64297, 64298/9 on appropriate TCP/UDP) and created a mod package and launched etc and server uptime begins counting , but the "matcher status" in the client never updates and my server isn't showing up in the steam server client. Any help much appreciated.
@Mangoletsi No there isn't as nothing I have read suggested that as one of the options, I'll add it and see if that fixes it. Thanks Edit: Added and no fix, still failing to display anything for matcher status
@TobyTrett To join your own server over lan, try the following, that works for me. To join my own server over lan, i use this line in the 'target' field of the shortcut to the launcher: "F:\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher\Launch rFactor.exe" +multiplayer +connect="127.0.0.1:64297" If you don't already have a shortcut to the launcher, create one. Adapt it to your Path and Port and try it out if it works for you too.
Thanks, Have tried setting up a dedicated server via the launcher. I have then made a new shortcut, and assigned multiplayer/port number but how do i know which port number/IP to use as the shortcut target. All I see at the moment is the screen above
Use this port range in your multiplayer.ini file :27013 instead of the others as this is the LAN port range for steam '
For LAN play try these ports Ports to forward (don't forget to edit the multiplayer.json as well) UDP+TCP 54297 TCP 27013 UDP 27014 UDP 27015
