    Hi all.
How do we setup a server with the new skin system?
Where do we put the mas files of the skins?
How are the skins transferred between the server and the pilots.

    Thanks.

I'll try to explain better my question.
With the new skins system the pilots make a .mas file with the skin and a rcd file with the car, driver, team and number that uses the skin.

Do we have to copy that files in the "...\rFactor2\UserData\player\Settings\" folder of the server?
In that case, how do we assign the Pitgroup?

Do we have to extract the .mas files and create the .veh, package all in a .mas, and make the .rfcmp (update of the car) as always?

Can we put the .mas of the skins and create another .mas with the .veh and make the .rfcmp?

    Thanks

    This was covered here https://docs.studio-397.com/users-guide/how-to-paint-a-car-with-the-new-material-system
    and here is an excerpt.

Part 4: Sharing with Skin Transfer
Sharing you skin with anyone on a server doesn't require much if you've already followed the steps above. In theory, you don't need to do anything extra, just join the server and it will transfer.

However you might ask how do I share extra files, like windows, helmets etc

    Start by opening:
    ...\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings\AstonMartin_Vantage_GT3_2019

Open the folder that was created for your team:

In this folder you will see 4 files

    • alt_<myskin>.dds
    • alt_<myskin>_Region.dds
    • alt_<myskin>.json (this file contains the settings you saved in the material editor)
    • alt_<myskin>.mas (this is a compressed file that contains all three of the files about and is what will be transferred to the server)

In the folder simply drop in your extra files:
    Example alt_AMV_HELMET.dds

Go back in rFactor 2, and load your car by clicking on TUNING in the main menu.
    In showroom click RELOAD.

And that's it! Time to join a server!

    Ok, thanks.
In this way we don't have the pitgroup info.
Do we have to make tye update of the car with the veh files in order to have the pitgroups?
The number and the team of the pilot will be the included in the veh, or the included in the .rcd of the skin?

    Thanks

Sorry @lagg you've exceeded my pay grade now.
I think though that the .veh would be the same as the donor car (the car you made the alt from) and would have pit group info.
Team, number and pilot is in the .rcd?? maybe. I've never had to ship the info to a server before, so I guess nothing has changed in that regard.

    Thank you.
    I think the same.
I'll make a test in the next days to check if the data of thve eh overrides the same data included in the rcd (this is my assumption)
