Herro... Is there a way to gain more control over discglow? My problem: Super nice intense glow in the day... Not so much in the night, where they actually should be more noticeable. My theory is that the DISCGLOW material name - which (I believe) is the only way to trigger the game to know that it is a discglow (fading in and out through temperatures) it has to work out... is hardcoded to a T1-shader... That doesn't really work very well in the night. Is there no way to gain more control over this? I wanted to use dashboardelement shader so that I could control both day and night intensity... But there's no way to change the shader...
Alright, let me break it down... T1 day (no HUD) T1 night (no HUD) material settings T1 hi lum sun day (with HUD) hi lum sun night (with HUD) Material settings hi lum sun
Interesting to me too, as I look forward to adding this feature to XJ13. I see your emission color is white, strange that it still looks dark in the night. I would have guessed that you need to give bright emission colour for this material.
Exactement... Nothing should keep it from blooming the shit out of everything while hi lum sun is in use... It's makes no sense. I'd like for Mad_King and Rasta to do the same experiment. Prove to me that discglow material isn't hard-coded T1. I can't name the material differently, because then the glow will always be on (standing still in the garage for example) - as in not act like disc glow.
Here's how it's done on official cars: And here it is in action, using those exact same settings: Make sure your using DISCGLOW.DDS as the file name, or in my experience, it doesn't work.
Does it have an alpha channel? You can also try all white on the diffuse, ambient, specular, and emmisive.
It can still look different if your texture is different from the official one , which is likely. It could also be that 3Dsimed has an issue with that shader and is not complete/correct , like the main car body rain shader. I also have had this exact issue when using 3Dsimed and changed shader because of it. Me, personally I think discglow is well overdone in most cases and have moved to 'No Lighting Tex1' for discglow, which is not as gamma bright as the others but it can be configured easily enough and works at day and night. When I get the time, i should really export them from the plugins in max and see how they are with the shader that is used on official cars, but well, spare time is rare for me with everything else lol.
Dashboardelement shader is definitely the way to go, since you can control the intensity in both scenarios... Shouldn't really be that noticeable in the day, but very noticeable in the night. Now I'm just super puzzled as to why it doesn't work for me... Dashboardelement shader works fine with 3Dsimed - at least in the cockpit.
