    G'day,

Is there any way to export replay files into a movie format that can be played by media players (WMP, VLC, etc)? I've had a look around in the replay options and when playing the replays themselves and I can't see anything regarding exporting. Is everyone using screen capture programs to record VCR file replays they're viewing in rF2? If this is the only way it can be done, could someone suggest a program?

    Cheers,

    Roy,

The files rF2 uses for replays are called "VCR". To my knowledge the files themselves don't contain any video, but the data of where cars are on track and their telemetry. So that when you view a replay file in rF2, the engine is essentially 'recreating' what happened during the session, not playing a visual recording of it. That's why the file sizes are so small. It's a clever system, but I can't see the export feature that rF1 had. If it's not there now I really hope ISI add it later.

Use Fraps or some other video capturing program. MSI Afterburner has that functionality also.

I dont think you can play vcr files in a player.

The replay files need to be screencapped through an in-game replay.
I haven't done it myself yet in rf2 but everything looks the same so Fraps.com for capping sene's and put the scene's in a video editor or converter.

i use sony vegas but for quick editing without too much fuzz (options) windows movie maker will also render it to a format of choice.
    or: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
But i'm not totaly up to date on converters anymore, this was an old bookmark which at the time was pretty sweet and easy to use.

    Also instead of fraps: http://playclaw.com/
I tried it, some rave about it but didn't realy notice anything better over fraps.

Thanks Denstjiro. I know of Fraps since it's very popular in the FPS gaming scene, but I've never tried it for myself. I wasn't aware there was a free version, I'll download it and give it a try.

Just use OBS. Capture the game and record. Make sure you mute your mic.
