Hi All Can anyone explain how McLaren Shadow Project semi finalist were chosen? I didn't see any of the rF2 Shadow Qualifier winners or other drivers in the semi final races. I might be mistaken, I haven't checked all the names... Thanks Balázs
@Balazs Magyar I haven't been keeping up with things, but assuming you're talking about what I've found in 5 mins since you haven't linked to anything, here's where I think they explain where the 'semi-finalists' came from: https://www.mclaren.com/formula1/2018/mclaren-shadow-project/semi-final-explainer/ And if you're referring to rF2 in this vid, it's not sliding, it's warp. Something about how they set up the viewer to record the action, I'm sure the drivers weren't getting anything like this. It seems to me the other finalists have come directly from winning in each of the games. So they were never at the semi-finals. This page has profiles on at least some of those that qualified directly, including Nuno Pinto. https://www.mclaren.com/formula1/2018/mclaren-shadow-project/
I was sure the drivers weren't effected by the sliding, it was just terrible to watch. Not a good reputation for rF2. Thank you, Lazza, for the information
rFactor starts at 00:56:00. while your right it's still a bad presentation which gives a bad reputation
It looks to me like an effect you get when not using the server replay but rather a local replay, which limits the data transfer of some clients.
@stonec It was a live stream, so I imagine using the server replay wasn't an option @Balazs Magyar It's true, and I was sidestepping the issue a bit there by simply clarifying what it was. I haven't done much live spectating so I don't know how typical that sort of footage would be (perhaps some client settings were less than optimal) but when other games look much smoother and more accurate it's not a good look when rF2 has that warping going on everywhere. Actually it must have been set up quite badly because I don't think I've ever seen warping that bad when looking at cars live; only when checking my own replays and looking at cars that were nowhere near me when driving (which the server was sending me less data for at the time, because it was prioritising the cars close to me) have I seen that sort of floating. It it wasn't silverstone I'd be wondering if the AIW was very poorly done, so something went wrong there. I don't know how much S397 is consulted when they're setting this stuff up, but every time rF2 looks this poor (remember the Las Vegas event?) it really doesn't help things.
Yeah, that was S397 doing it, so they did it properly Nice signature line, by the way. I'm nearly envious
