I've been enjoying the new McLarens but I have a question.

Driving the M23, even with the clutch help disabled I can always change gears up and down without ever using the clutch pedal, which is disappointing. Is there a way to fix that? I am no Emerson Fittipaldi, so I am pretty sure I am not perfect timing every gear change, specially because I am not even trying to…

    Thanks in advance.

No, at this stage the game doesn't offer any better methods of simulating the clutch. It's been mentioned occasionally, and heaps by players, hopefully at some point we see some movement.

Back in the good ol' days of rF1 someone made a Grinding Tranny plugin.
Someone, who has experience and a memory, might like to elaborate further.

But isn't there an difference in some of the cars?
In the old mod Lola 280, unless you lift the throttle the gear wont engage before you do (get the impression how much lift is needed is gear related as well), but on the latest older F1 cars from 397 full throttle gear change is possible if you lazy and don't bother to lift or blip.

(but skipping clutch is still possible, so here just pretend you have an dog box... :)

Seven's solution is a cool work-around...at least forcing you to push in the clutch...Given the time that has ellapsed since first mention of this I assume we have entered vapor-ware territory as far as a clutch is concerned.
Seven, looking forward to any update you come up with, thanks,

...or S397 can talk with Reiza guys and ask them how they implemented and improved Grinding Tranny code on AMS...

...and maybe ask them another couple of things...

    ...just sayng...

Yep a real shame that RF2 has this issue and is why AMS is still way ahead and it was based on RF1. Until RF2 sorts out the physics for all their cars as well then it will always be lagging as most of the 3rd party mods are just rubbish on the physics side.. Will be interesting to see how much better the Reiza stuff is when its finally avail in RF2.

I didnt know this until i got decent pedals with clutch. If its not needed to shift then i guess there is no need to wear it down until its implemented. Setting the shifter to seq will have to do. Will be nice to test it in AMS.

Quite disappointing.... On PC2 forum (sorry for the comparison), people got really raged when the Le Mans pack came out and sometimes the clutch was not needed… So there something RF2 manages to do worse than PC2…

I've translated it into Python though at the moment that makes it less useful as I haven't added a way to configure it for different pedals/shifters. It's working nicely for me though :)

Would it work on SHH shifter? Just saw your link. Gotta test it. Thank you! :)

I have now added Configurer.exe (details in the OP). I don't have an SHH shifter to try it with but I have tested with a mix of my G25 and an XBox controller.
