When I run a full-length F1 race, offline, with a full field of 21 AI cars, their ability at the highest settings, they quit the race about halfway through. Is there a setting i can adjust to keep this from happening?

In the Standings screen does it say why they "quit" eg, fuel, damage?
I have never heard of an AI vehicle quitting.

If they weren't in a Mercedes or Ferrari they may have decided there were better things to do. :D

Ok, ran another full race, most that didn't finish were out of fuel, 1 dnf. Is there a line in the json's or elsewhere where i can make sure they take a full tank of fuel (120L)? I know you can force Ai to use a specified setup. Or maybe this has something to do with the league mod, where the originators didn't concern themselves with singleplayer offline use...

I have no idea if this works but you can only try.
In your player.JSON there are these two options:
    "Fixed AI Setups":false,
"Fixed AI Setups#":"whether AI use the fixed setups, only applicable if \"Fixed Setups\" is also enabled (and can be used in single player to have the AIs use your favorite setup)",
    "Fixed Setups":false,
"Fixed Setups#":"use fixed setups specified in UserData\\<plr>\\FavoriteAndFixedSetups.gal (based on track and vehicle class)",

Change both of them to :true,
I then suppose you make a setup with a full tank and put that in the FavoriteAndFixedSetups.gal. What that last step involves I have no idea.

There is always the easier but probably the least desirable option, turn fuel usage off in the race setup options.

I do want the fuel load to be a factor. I'll figure out how to load the setups. Thanks

Is fuel still calculated for the AI by using the fuel usage in the track AIW file?
If this is still the case then individual mods will calculate differently (Y/N I'm not a modder so guessing on that)
Try on a couple of different tracks and see if the cars finish on any of them. Then maybe try a couple of different mods on the track you're having trouble on and see what happens.
Let us know how you get on. :)

Go to this site http://meetme.bplaced.net/rF2_onlineTools/ and scroll to the bottom of the site.
There you'll find a tutorial about how to use fixed setups.

Which track and car mod so we can test? If it's a third-party track my best guess would be that the track modder either forgot or didn't properly calculate fuel usage when working on the track's AIW. Over the years i fixed a few tracks with similar issues!

I reset my player file and that seems to have fixed it

Editing the AI settings in your PLR file can sometimes produce bad outcomes or your file got corrupted. Good to hear you resolved it.
