I looked for it last night but didn’t find it. It was fun driving down the train tracks looking for it. I spent all my time driving slowly round the circuit looking at the detail in VR, I’ll try racing on the track another time!

well, ok, you've got me there... there is no train in the race sessions :) Only practice and quali. The thought being that it would be slightly rude to include such additional detail to a race session, when presumably no one would be stopping to admire the train, and that minor reduction in detail might slightly help process the other cars which in theory are in the same part of the track at the same time as the player :)

I just went and had a look at Longford 0.97, I think one of the first releases.......

The first download I could find for RF1 was dated 23/08/2011...that is 7 years.......next week. I started Lakeside and QR maybe a year or so earlier. Since we have such a great platform and I am getting my head around track building a bit better, I will just do what you have done...little by little, make changes and keep building on what you have.

I have watched you do what you have done Woochoo and very impressed and honoured to travel the journey. You are an encouragement to me to keep going and not give up.

Thanks Mike, some nice words there :)
The work started on Longford at the start of 2009, so it sure has been a learny journey.
Little by little seems to be the only way I can go about it.
Some things have been updated. Some things have been replaced. But never the whole thing at once.
I remember chatting with you about Lakeside in the early days. Good to see it continuing still :)

Also, hey, how about a changelog :D

= Renamed circuit to "Longford 1967" (was "Longford 1967 (staggered grid)")
= Adjusted camber in left kink after viaduct (longer exit)
= Adjusted textures and materials for Dx11 and tonemapper
= Added global Image Based Lighting
    = Added Puddle map
= Added AO map for Road
    = Added Longford Railway Station
= Added Tasman Limited train, with two X-Class locomotive (static)
= Added marker tyre to left roadside after Viaduct
= Added road textures with minor damage
= Added road bridge texture/material with rumble sound
= Added dedicated "dark, fresh" tarmac texture (was modified material)
    = Added static skid decals
    = Added tarmac/gravel edge decals
= Added tarmac smudge decal to pitlane and viaduct
= Added grass verge decal on left of viaduct entry
= Added oil and quick-dry decals (cosmentic only, varied by session)
= Added "GO" and grid decal under Viaduct (not sure what it's for - maybe a children's pedal car race or something)
= Added basic night window glows to buildings
= Added 2D Billboard mechanics in pit and paddock areas
= Replaced old static 2D crowd with 2D Billboard crowd
= Replaced pit fence armco with more historically accurate pit fence armco
    = Updated Hay Bales
    = Updated Large Sheds
    = Remade Small Shed House
    = Remade Service Station
= Bottom row of movable haybales in viaduct converted to static (for collision consistency, less haybale mess, and some fewer draw calls in expensive area)
= Added bush to viaduct entry (behind hay - as seen in reference pics but forgotten about for years)
= Added pump station to reflected env
= Hours and hours (days and weeks) of tweaks that were worth doing but not worth mentioning
