Rfactor2 The VR thread -settings & tips

Checked mine and found to be Gen 2 :-(

Anyone know where I might find a socket 1150 MOBO with Gen 3 PCIe? Have had a search, but cannot locate anything in stock. Or, should I bite the bullet and get a newer board/CPU combo. This would be for a Geforce GTX980 Ti

 

Are we closer to finally have a LTH setting?

 

Marcel made a comment on Racedepartment that they are working on a solution that they feel is best and it is in "testing" (along with the Ui ) and will be up to the testers if its ready or not

 

Go for new cpu/mobo/ram

 

I like the way AC have implemented it

 

And GPU

 

980ti still packs a lot of punch ,
ti versions are good gpu’s
& 980ti is better than most 10 series
So think he should put monies into mobo etc

I went from 1080. To 1080ti & it was like a different card ,
Similar experience with previous gens

If there’s a 11 series ( or 20xx ) then I’ll not really be interested until the Ti version surfaces , usually about 10 months after

Every time I update them with a pic host they expire & disapear
I’ll find a new one that’s hopefully more permanent

Go min settings then step up but by bit , Test with official 397 content typical scenarios etc

Do you even have VR?

 

I do and that happened yesterday though I didn't record it and did the video specially. There were a lot more spins, it was like being stationary in a clothes dryer

What would be the noticeable effect of having Gen 2 and how much improvement does Gen 3 provide?

 

For my system (X79 board with 3930K @ 4.7Ghz running 980Ti) I'd say it is pretty significant that it is very noticeable. I don't have an exact figure as I made the switch to Gen3 so long ago but I do recall installing W10 (when it was 1st released) and then wondering why my performance in rF2 & R3E had become unplayable. After going forwards and backwards with installs of Windows I suddenly remembered I had not run the Gen3 patch for my board that I need to do each time I update my GPU drivers. @Ari Antero would probably be able to give you a % in FPS difference as I know he has run a number of tests between Gen2 & 3 PCI-e. All I can tell you is that it is significant.

 

It will vary depending on hardware
Eg the greater the power of the gpu the higher the bottle neck will be

In my case I think it’s about 20%
with 1080ti

How did it felt last you had a roll over with a car?
Looking at LTH on a fixed flat screen is silly, but in VR it is as close as beeing there. You roll with the car and the horizon, well stays as the horizon. When the roll stops, if you are upside down, the horizon is still there for you, same as if you lean you head, the horizon stays as the horizon. A camera does not have a very elaborate inner ear system to tell the brain what he his supposed to see, well some camera have a stabiliser, but a game does not, that is if it does not have LTH.

 

Anyone else noticed that the world scaling is off with the latest update? It's looks like the game is ignoring the steam VR IPD setting, so my race car now looks about 4 feet wide. Also, the loading screens are now projected at some comically low-resolution onto the inside of what looks like a cylinder, with the progress bar a little circle at the top. Looks awful.

And the game is *still* de-selecting the SteamVR 'enable dashboard' option for no reason at all, which is a pain in the backside.

 

I've not got that at all, not seen it reported either so if it was a widespread issue it would've been known for awhile, which headset are you using?
